How does the deck lid under the rear window get secured? Mine does not seem to be attached on the deck surface and it is bouncing up and down a bit. The PO had 2 sheet metal screws that I removed. They did a great job of scratching and dimpling the window when the top was down so I removed them. If this is stock, how is the deck secured so that they do not raise above the deck and dimple the window? There do not seem to be recesses in the rear deck to use a countersunk screw.

serious bummer - lots of little plastic pop tabs like in the door panels - total pain in the butt to deal with

Thanks Bob,

Are these any illustrations in the DIY library that show locations?

As I recall taking anything apart back there is a real nightmare.

It looks like the access is from the top inside only?

Doesn't this panel have to come out to get to the cab motors?

access is a bear - it's one of those "move this to get to that - now bend it here - careful not to kink it" kinds of things

there isn't much of a DIY as i remember - search for the cab top manual here - i think it is posted - if not, i have the file

yes it has to come out to access the top motors

Have the manaul. It is the 944 manual for the top.

It does not say a word.

I may just have to put up with it.

Small return on investment.

... now go pack...leave out the candy for Tuesday.

roflmao - almost done packing - just need to tear down my studio rig and the theatre rig - ate all the candy - gotta get more

if you are really careful, you can pry that thing up and peek under - you will find little holes where the plastic thingies go - they sort of "turn in" to the deck piece, and then you line them up with holes in the sheet metal and pop them down just like a door panel

What is the part number of plastic fastener? Are they the same part # as door ones?

Best to have some in hand before I go prying around.

Thanks

Brian

Brian, I believe the part number is 941 504 715 10 and eight are required.

Tom,

Thanks. Pelican shows it as a LINING CLIP with no picture.

I will get 8 and dig in.

Brian, As others have said - it's tricky - I've been there. Found it best to get the elastic straps out of the way and with the top fully up shift the panel as far down to the right - then "twist" the left leading edge up till it clears the top upright and lift out. It appears to be a plastic of some type and is flexible. As Flash says getting the thingies to line up going back in is the tough part. Likely goes better with new parts. Good luck.
