"New" Badge Numbers - Darth Vadar - 03-19-2007

I just received my "New" 968 rear badge numerals from Jager engineering,

jageng.com/garage9/

Photo attached... I found these to be very well done, with adhesive attached, and great instructions as to installation. Of course, you be the judge... the photo is very representative of the item.

Super fast service as well, esp. from our Great Neighbor To The North!

Looks great to me! I have been very happy with their PORSCHE insert letters for the vanity cover as well. Monique provides super service too. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

Thanks Bob! Yes, I think they will add just a bit of "bling" to that vast expanse of BLACK...

Which raises the next question... would someone with the rear badge on their car (from the factory) give me some dimensions as to the correct placement of the numerals on the rear end... maybe up from the horizontal line, and spacing from the center point of the "6"???

TIA!!!

Hey there, Darth! Like the bling! Mine are factory original. Here's what I just measured: The 968 logo overall is exactly centered above the lock. Total horizontal distance from the lower outer edge of the 9 to the upper outer edge of the 8 is 4 5/8". There is 1/8" between the nearest points of the three digits. The vertical placement is 1 1/8" from the edge of the trunk lid down to the top of the 6, and 1 3/16" between the bottom of the 6 and the lower edge of the panel. Like all good art framing shops do, there's a little more "white space" below the artwork, so that's my guess for why it's not exactly centered vertically. Hope that helps!

Hey Kathy, that's great! Now to get it done! Photos to come!

Thanks very much...

Did you ever post any photos of your car after completion?

"New" Badge Numbers - happysails2you - 03-20-2007

Glad I could finally help with something, since I'm not in the same technical league as the rest of you!

Haven't posted photos yet, will do. She's all done (for now?) and looks 14 years younger. Have some pic's of the spiffy wheel refurb job (before/after), will take others and get them posted after I get back from the Carib.

Darth, they look great and motivate me to replace the ugly silver badges on my black cab with chrome. All I have to do is convince my friends that it's not cooler to remove all badges from my 968 and go "stealth."

Tom

"New" Badge Numbers - Darth Vadar - 03-20-2007

Yeah; That is a tough call... Stealth is nice, but... most people think you just stripped the badging off to confuse them... they don't get it...

I'm going to put these in place with some temp tape, and just sit and stare at them for a while and see how they move me...

Maybe yes, maybe no... I can always put them somewhere else, either on the car or on the History Book with all of the services records, etc...

That might look cool! We shall see... For $7 bucks a number, no biggy either way! Have to admit, I really like the way the light moves over the face of the numerals...

Darth, will I be without friends entirely if I chrome the exhaust tip? I think it would look quite nice on a black cab?

See attached photo... mine is the original SS tip , but polished to a chrome like finish...

Okay, it's just me... I gotta thing for the 'Bling"!!!

"New" Badge Numbers - Rutger Gert-jan - 03-21-2007

Hi,

I also ordered the chrome numbers for my car, I think it looks much better on a "dark" painted car...I will post some pictures when the numbers are on the car!

Regards,

Rutger

Have any of you seen the logo all the way off to the right side of the car. I have noticed a couple cars on ebay with it like this and wondered if it was ever like this from the factory??

"New" Badge Numbers - Darth Vadar - 03-22-2007

I like it! Definitely the silver numerals... just the right amount of "Bling"!

"New" Badge Numbers - 968rz - 03-22-2007

I like the mini badge

Thanks.

It's identical ( well, except size ) to the hood crest, not a flat decal. You can find it on the Porsche leather key fobs ( $ 5 or so, at the dealer ). Just cut the leather out, then break the "pin" on the back of the crest with some pliers - it breaks clean off, no need to file off anything - use the same ultra thin double stick tape mentioned in the other thread about the 968 logo attachment, and you're in business.

"New" Badge Numbers - gryphon - 03-22-2007

Well I for one think those chrome exhausts look great, particularly on a dark car.

I also have silver grill pieces from Dave Greiman which I probably will install. More bling I guess.
