I've had my 94 968 for almost a year now and use it every day as my daily driver....I've had no real issues and as long as I feed it Premium gas it loves me back..... although I've done a lot of reading on the subject...I'm still in a fog about the VarioCam system in the engine..... what does it really do and how does it work....???? My only other issue is the carpet.... it's white and dirty.... I'd like to change them out...to black or dark grey...I've looked but can't find any suppliers for the 968...can you point me in the right direction......thanks.......

Go to the DIY library there is a pdf of camshaft inspection that might clear things up and there was a post a couple of days ago about carpet replacement.

presently working on a possible carpet set with a 928 parts vendor. Process is slow at present.
I think any good auto upolsterer could easily do the job. Only a few mildly complex bends in the trunk. Problem is getting the old one out due to glue. Shoot, I would do it myself if I had an industrial sewing machine. Interior carpet is easy to get by the yards.....
read my posts in 'new carpet' in the interior section...

Xrad, when I removed the carpet to delete the rear seats and replace them with the locking "cubbies" from a Cabriolet I found that removing the carpet was the most difficult part of the job. The only thing that seemed to help get the glue loose was getting it hot (sitting out in the New Mexico sun almost all day) and pulling slowly and steadily to get the carpet free. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

I've replaced my carpet and leather. I got everything from
http://www.worlduph.com/porsche4.htm. They do custom work on seats and carpet, but I ordered the carpet and had it custom fit by a local shop. Good luck.
