Came across this the other day, it very entertaining.
Standard Porsche rims with their associated weights also includes tire weights

Something wrong with the link. Should however be a server error since I have the same ling since earlier in my machine.
After studying the tables at this site I am now piling up standard 996 17 x 9" as a good compromize between price and weight. Cheap second hand.

I have done the same choice and I have bought a second hand set on eBay for 490 € (+/- 750 $).
The set include two 9" wide ET55 wheels and two 8,5" wide ET50 wheels. I will mount 235/47/17 tires on the 8,5" wheels: I know that the diameter will be a bit larger (9 mm exactly) than 225/45/17, but I think that such a little difference should not matter.
