I checked through the DYI Library and didn,t see what I was looking for, so I thought I would ask. I took the sunroof out of the car for a day, about a week ago. Removal was perfectly normal with no problems. However, when I reinstalled it the following problem appeared. When I went to open it in the vent position the next day, the arm on the drivers side rear did not full extend, so the roof doesn't full open on the left side. Moreover, when I close the roof, the arm on he left side retracts and fails to secure the left rear corner. So when your driving above 70 mph the left rear corner lifts up and makes for a lot of wind noise.
I know that the sunroof gears do break, that happened and I had them replaced in the past year. When they failed it was very obvious, so I don't think that is what happened this time. It is as if the left arm and the right arm are just out of sync with one another.
Does anyone have experience correcting this problem? If it is in the Library, just let me know and I'll take another look.

It is very easy to have the arms misaligned when reinstalling them. If they arent perfectly in sync then you will have symptoms exactly as you described. Clark's Garage had a good write up on replacing the gears and realigning the arms. I'll link to it when I get back to my desk.

Here is the article I used when replacing my gears. The last part of the article references realigning the lift arms after the gears have been replaced. Having the arms out of sync by even one tooth can cause the sunroof to not lock down properly and allow for the lift at speed that you are describing. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
