A good friend of me and my fathers has decided to buy a Porsche.
However we both want him to get the cars we like.
I obviously want him to get a 968.
My dad wants him to get a C4S.
It looked like I was going to win but then the tide turned.
The friend went to Micheal Stead Porsche and test drove a new C4S.
Now his favorite color is Midnight Blue, I might have the upperhand because most 911's are silver.

There is no way to compare a 15 year old 968 and a new C4S. The C4S is superior in every way if you can afford the cost of admission.

Unfortunatly he does.
But I don't want him to get into something he can't handle yet.
Its like, you wouldn't buy your best friend a Lambo if all he's ever drivin was civic's.

C4S is a pretty good driver with the AWD.

I'm going against the grain here but I drove my friend's C4 cab ( not an "S" though ) and I would take the 968 over it any day, any time, even if price was equal ! I don't remember if his car is a 2005 or 2006, and perhaps the new ones are far superior to the ones three years ago, but I did not feel it matched the driver experience the 968 gives you..in any respect ! I can tell you I was very disappointed in what I expected an $ 80k Porsche to do by comparison to a $ 15k car 10 years its senior and with two cylinders less. The 968 coupe with a mere $150 add-on ( chipped and airbox modded ) WILL keep up nose to nose with a C4 CAB from around 40mph to 150mph + . Even the cornering of the 968 feels par with the C4 AWD
which to me is inexplicable, but I'm honestly conveying my experience.

I have been fortunate in that I have been able to drive a variety of Porsches. The C4S is a heavy car with the all wheel drive system than a comparable C2S. The all wheel drive system also requires more horsepower to move so it will be slower than a C2S. That said, all wheel drive is very safe way to go particularly for a novice driver in a high performance car for the first time. Rear engine cars have some very unforgiving handling characteristics, as we all know. It isn't until the 993 that Porsche succeeded in reducing some of the worst characteristics. The 996 and 997s with their traction control systems are fairly safe in the hands of a novice.
I just retuned a month ago from a trip to Rome and Florence, the most common Porsche I observed, the C4S. The most common luxury sedans were Audi Quattros in their many diesel powered variations.

Hmmm.
I guess I did forget that AWD does make a good safty measure.
I'd rather him be safe than sorry.
