Most of the time this gives an error message when I click on it. This is unfortunate as this function is the one I use the most. Is there some "secret handshake" that I need to do?

nope - if there are new posts, it should give them to you - try clearing your cookies - they only last a week

sometimes after I get the error...if I wait 5 seconds before clicking on it, it works.

this is the message -

Sorry, the board administrator has enabled search flood control. Please wait at least 20 seconds before trying again.

You can only click on the button once every 20 seconds. It shouldn't give you that message if you waited at least that. It may be a lingering cookie hanging around in your browser.

yeah - 20 seconds is the setting - that keeps the search from getting jammed up

I get it immediately - just got it now and that was the first button that I pushed after logging in.

If I wait 20 seconds it works but then I only get last 20 seconds - meaning nothing.
