Not sure anyone has managed to buy anything from that place but yes it's the correct part number

Right, well this is where there is much disagreement. Some want to modify and as you have introduced the super-charger among other add ons its a little ironic that this would be an issue.
I don't think it makes sense to run the fog lights independent of the "running lights" anyway. They are the same lights that the headlights use and at dawn or dusk being as my car is black I think it does help. But essentially I agree that people who are driving should be alert but they aren't sometimes which is why accidents are caused. I do notice that newer cars have those LED trim lights and that people down here drive with them on. I think they're a little showy but they spend $80k plus on a new car and want people to notice I guess. (And I can hear the chorus... Hell Yeah!)
On that vein I'm looking into putting 100 watt H3 bulbs in mine but don't want the plastic to melt. Anybody done this?

the supercharger kit is a bolt on kit, but definitely a mod. it is one that underwent over a year of testing though, before putting it out in the world.
100w bulbs are not legal for use on public highways. perhaps yours are just fogged. new ones are much brighter than old ones.

I looked into the "amber" lens and they too are illegal except for off-road use. Seems "fogging" is epidemic. Even the state capital has a case of it when it concludes that "amber" lens are a safety hazard. Should have known when the 968 came stock with clear lenses and called them "fog" lights that amber lenses were illegal.

i haven't looked lately, but they were legal at the time. as long as you don't exceed 55 watts, they were fine. also, you can still buy DOT approved amber lights for fog or driving, just not for main beams. the illegality of amber has always been limited to main beams, which these are not.
interesting note though, california is one of the states where it is illegal to have fog lights on at all without the low beams also on

I think you've got it backwards. The 100 watt bulbs are legal, and many cars use them. The amber lights for fog are off-road only. There is a question however, of whether the wiring in the 968 can handle the extra load, which it appears it cannot. The 100 watt would require a 20 amp fuse which is higher than the 15 amp fuse that the 55 watt use.

I was notified that California does permit yellow fog lights per section 2950. White to yellow. The problem is obtaining them ( in California ) which most Auto stores don't seem to carry other than off-road places. Which is why all the disinformation. My apologies to the state legislature, its not as foggy in Sacramento as it is in San Francisco. And in So. Cal we don't see fog like we used to, as in the 70's when fog lights were most prevalent. I've looked for the amber H3 bulbs and they're also not available.

This is not my day. I checked yesterday at all the local auto shops O'reilly's, Napa, Autozone, etc. and they didn't have any yellow H3 bulbs. I checked on-line and they sell the H3 amber lens on Amazon... I think that's what I'll do, not as good as the yellow lens but aesthetically they work. I like the bumperettes too.

not a chance. i just checked. while the wattage has gone up on some lights, it is nowhere near 100 watts
per the federal standard 108, which is what is used for any car used on public highways:
type a single filament is 55, dual filament is 43 watts high and 65 watts low
type b is 70 high and 60 low
type c is the same as b
type d is 65 high and 55 low (this is ours)
type e, f and g are 70 high and 60 low
p.s. - it specifically allows amber for auxiliary lights, but they can only be used in conjunction with the low beams, and cannot exceed the wattage of the low beam

Well like the pot laws, different standards are enforced in different states. Its not in the California code. And the 100 watt are readily available. Due to current load issues however, I've opted to go with the 55 watt amber which I've ordered from Wal-Mart for $10.40 a pair, free shipping. Yeah, I think I can handle $10. B)

that is the FEDERAL law. states can make things MORE restricting, but not less.

Back to the Relay - here are some more clearer shots
A little leery about trying to open it up if I can't get another - I know I probably break something....anyway
and the top - the other side is blank....

Ditto Waylander, much appreciated.
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">"that is the FEDERAL law. states can make things MORE restricting, but not less."
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">
<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">On the contrary, as I mentioned, states have passed laws in contravention of Federal Law (like Pot) and the Fed has not intervened. The 100 watt H3 bulbs are available off the shelf at O'reilly's and Wal-Mart has the 100 watt H3 amber for less than the H3 55 watt. ( around $7 ). The ones I ordered are coming out of Washington and as a result no tax. Now I know some items are not available in California because of California law like catalytic converters... but that is not the case with higher wattage lights.

Its certainly not a standard 53 relay, I think duplicating it would be rather difficult even with some pins from a DME or something else. Thanks again.

actually, the federal laws still stand, and that is why there is so much controversy over pot. even though the state may have passed a law, the feds can still nail you. right now, they aren't doing it, but that doesn't say that it won't change if the republicans gain control of the white house, for example.
being available, and being legal are 2 different things. i deal with this all the time. i can sell anything, as long as i include the "not legal for...." disclaimer.
100W bulbs are not legal for use on public highways - period. if you live in a state that has headlight inspections, you'll get dinged. if you are flying and a cop sees them, you'll likely get dinged. your risk, not mine though

"legal" pot growers are having problems finding places to put the money because federally insured banks can seize the funds, even though they were generated legally according to the state laws. I heard through the LE grapevine that a few large scale growers in Colorado have started their own bank that will not be federally insured so they can store and loan their funds out like a regular bank, just without the federal oversight.
If they need a place to store their funds, I would suggest purchasing a cheap Porsche and doing some light restoration.
Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming...
