I've never seen the amber lens on the 968, or are these in addition to?

Activating daytime running lights - wildcat - 11-19-2015

BTW the bridge I posted is the American / Japan version. The American version has 4 bayonets from what I've seen. I don't know what the difference is. On mine, the auxiliary driving lights are on with the parking lights and when the headlights are up but not in the hi-beam position. FWIW

nope.  OEM part that replaces the clear ones.  they were on the french cars.  not sure if they were used anywhere else.

From my limited research, these are pretty rare.

yup.  these are brand new in the box.  i haven't gotten around to installing them, and now that i am selling the car, i'm not sure i will.

Rare lights and expensive , not as rare as the relay since they arr still availble .

The only thing is the looks , the belong on a Peugeot from a 100 years ago if you aak me .

So leave them in the box , and sell them on ebay for big bucks .

Just for reference:

Activating daytime running lights - flash - 11-20-2015

lol - they throw a much better light for fog.  i've always hated the white light of the standard lights.  yellow is the best color car light you can get, and the easiest seen by the human eye.  blue is about the worst.  the glare is greatly reduced with yellow light.  i just wish the lens was bit darker, because then it wouldn't clash with the turn signal lens so much.  that, and the fact that i have not yet purchased stone guards for them, are the only reasons they are not on the car.

i figure if the buyer want the amber ones, i'll put those in the blue car, put the clear ones with the stone guards in the white car, and sell the others.  otherwise, i'll sell the amber ones.

for whomever is goofy enough to want lights on during the day, it took me 30 seconds to find this:

Goofy? Why not "Responsible"? Why does there need to be a word for it? In Canada this has been a requirement since at least 1992. I can tell you that more than once I was glad to see some lights when I was pulling away from an intersection on a car that that for whatever reason I am not sure that I would have seen otherwise.  I will put up with a speedicg ticket occasionally (not caused, of course, by driving lights) as a fair trade for an unknown to me but mathematically correct reduction in the likelihood of being blindsided by someone who is ..  well, lets just let's leave Goofy to a name for Mickey's dog.

Install the relay, my friend, the hole in the fuse panel is there for a reason.

Activating daytime running lights - flash - 11-21-2015

poppycock.  if you are in fog, that's one thing.  if it's dusk, sure.  but broad daylight???  that's just silly.  if those lights are what you notice, then there is something else you are doing wrong that you didn't see the car.

Thanks for the driving lesson.

These are the bridges, but they don't allow you to run the car with just the "fog" lights on. They jumper the connections between headlights and parking lights.  There is a relay that allows you to run just the "fog" lights alone, which is what some people want to do.  The wire as depicted will allow you to run just the fog lights, its a jumper to positive which makes the fog lights independent. The problem with this is that the fog light switch's green light stays on all the time even with the fog lights off. So for those who don't care for this, as well as the messy appearance of the wire, the relay is the only solution. I don't have a part # for it, and I was interested in the schematic to see how the relay was wired. If you can track down the relay, that would be helpful to those who would prefer that solution.

Maybe statistics do support the argument that daytime running lights reduce accidents in certain conditions , but IMO seeing a car with lights on in broad daylight is annoying as hell and actually more distracting . And then, why stop there..might as well have a running perpetual horn or siren added to the car to enhance the visual with an audible effect . That way no one can possibly fail to notice your car.

Activating daytime running lights - az968 - 11-22-2015

Dan, is thee a part number for the perpetual horn? Mine only honks when I push a button. That would be a great feature in traffic.

Activating daytime running lights - Waylander - 11-22-2015

in the pics on page 3 of this thread, there are numbers on the top of the relay, can someone get those and post them,

not the 944 number but the vendor number as i might be able to track them down with that number

Activating daytime running lights - flash - 11-22-2015

i looked for the other part numbers but had no luck.  the 944 number turned up those 3 in seconds.  is $10 too much?  in 11 years this is the first time this topic has come up.  how many sources do we need for this.

dan - outstanding!  i find that those lights are actually a danger.  it lulls you into a sense of security.  if you don't see lights, you figure you're safe.  i think the opposite approach would add to safety.  remove any and all reflective surfaces, and make cars harder to see.  then, people might slow down and pay more attention, and look out more, before diving out into traffic.

Activating daytime running lights - Waylander - 11-22-2015

Those were the bridge relays not the Canada drl

Activating daytime running lights - flash - 11-22-2015

ah - i thought wildcat had found the canadian unit for the 968.  it seems this is a part not for the 968, and not appropriate for application in the 968.

so, once again, let's return the thread to the CORRECT part.
