If you copied the other design, wouldn't you be suffering from MAF turbulence, constant high fuel pressure, black smoke, belt slippage? Couldn't prove it by me, but I didn't see any of those "features" with the D1R/RSB design when I drove and observed your car.
Just sayin'

If any of you guys in the first batch happen to have a BB catback on your car ( and the OE headers ), I'd really like to hear about
the exhaust note difference ( if any ) with the SC, at WOT.

Hmmm... Interesting question. I wouldn't expect a supercharger to impact the exhaust note, but who knows?

jay - funny stuff - yeah, none of that nonsense
cloud - it can, as the volume in increased - the biggest change is that there is a filling of the "in between" of the pulses - a normally aspirated 4 banger has a noticeable gap between pulses - with the sc, it's more of a constant note - rather nice actually

So much for playing nice. Some people just cant let go. Maybe i'll get the opp to be banned for a 4th time. Fun times. :-)

Interesting - makes sense. Do you have an aftermarket cat back on you car? From your description, it "sounds" (sorry, too hard to resist...) like a supercharger and an RS Barn cat back would make for a very good combination, sonically speaking.

yes - i currently have the rsb cat-back on the car as a part of the last round of testing

the theory certainly makes sense, but I'd still like some real experience feedback for my own peace of mind.. i'd hate to see my exhaust note go go from a baritone to a soprano ( albeit a smoother, filled-in soprano ) by virtue of more volume being pushed through.

essentially it sounds like it has more cylinders more than a pitch change

lol - the garbage continues - i find it amazing that some people are just so stubborn or so dense they can't see the truth - they still continue to say that this design in some way is a copy of somebody else's design - i'd like to know exactly what it is that i have copied - i share no parts in common (other than the bosch 951 relief valve) - i have no bracketry design in common (not even close) - i don't use the same head unit (in fact the one i am using has been custom tailored for this application - not just some off the shelf unit) - i don't drive the unit the same - i don't tension the unit the same - i have an airbox - i use the factory fans - plumbing is entirely different - where is the similarity? in what way have i possibly copied anything?
the fact of the matter is that this system was not designed to compete with the other ones - this system was specifically created because nobody else wanted to finish the job - we saw one coming out that we thought had promise if it could be completed - we offered our help, as we certainly did not want to get involved in this whole mess - however, the guy doing it did not want to address the things we know for a fact to be issues - it wasn't because we thought we could make more power - it wasn't because we wanted to make money - it was purely because we wanted to see a complete system out there that actually worked out of the box - we have seen too many people try this and have nothing but problems
i also wanted one for my own car and nobody made a system that worked - i knew i could do better than what i had seen, whether i marketed it or not - i also knew that i could address the known issues
we know the cooling system is incredibly critical, and did not want to change that - a single speed fan, smaller in surface area, was not a safe thing to do in warmer temperature areas - we left that alone
nobody making a kit wanted to tune the system, which we know to be a huge shortcoming of all others out there - as a result the system does not work properly to this day - the factory chip is NOT safe - it is way too lean at part throttle when boost comes on, which is a LOT lower in load than you would think - the timing maps are also not safe - no matter how much fuel you throw at it, the knock sensors still get involved - that must be adjusted in the chip
we also did not want to mess with fuel pressure - that would require a gauge to tune the initial pressure, and subject the user to potential fuel leaks - this is not safe and not desirable
we also knew that the air cleaner must be serviced far more frequently on forced induction than on normally aspirated - for that reason the air cleaner must be easily accessible - that is why we put it under the hood - we also include an airbox to retain the thermal separation from the engine bay
anyway, we undertook the project, and are finally about to ship the orders, knowing that they can be bolted on and run without problems - we will know this due to EXTENSIVE testing under many conditions

Anyone with open eyes and ears can see you have found and applied unique solutions to a difficult problem.

lol - yeah - no worries - i'd just love to see those guys point out exactly where i copied anybody though - total b.s.
it's not like the idea is at all new either - centrifugal units have been around since studebaker, and even on the 968 for about 8 years - heck, i've been talking about using the rotrex for about 6 years, dating way back to the chip testing day
just what exactly did i copy?

banditsc - 05-13-2010
They can't tout how great the unit is running, so they need something to distract from all the negative that has been popping up lately. You wouldn't expect Frick and Frack to actually admit they were wrong about it being the best product ever. It's just their normal personal attacks, nothing at all related to the product, neither of them has seen either system up close so they really can't comment on either system with any intelligence.
Just ignore them like normal.

agreed - i don't really pay much attention to it all, but i did want to dispel any idea that i copied anything from anybody

Yeah, well I didn't pay attention first so I consider that theft of my IP (Intellectual Property) that you have now cheated and stole..so you owe me a set of Cup I's...hilarious!

I think one of you guys who are members of both Forums and RL should cut and paste " the facts " post on RL.. but then again, you might get banned . Oh well, people have a right to believe what want to believe and that's what they will do regarless of how compelling any given point may be ( wait, isn't that the basis for religion ..but I digress.. ) so probably not worth losing any sleep over things like this..

Who cares what the usual suspects say anyhow. The small group of naysayers will always be a small group to themselfs because of self exclusion.
I'd say the D1R SC is a success seeing as batch 1 sold out and orders are being taken for batch 2.
I'm already debating the sale of my 951 for a good supercharged 968 candidate.
It would be nice of someone started a new thread over there showing the various kits available and a write up of the differences.

The moron is the new sidekick. He's been brainwashed by the other two, so his comments are of no surprise to me. 2 bad for him, his loss at the end of the day.
