Well said...

I do think Silver is one of the best colors on this car, much more like a bond car...although I guess bond should really be driving a green car....

What I find so incredible is how our cars can look so different based on the color, lighting and model (cab vs coupe). All cars look different depending on stance and wheels but our cars seem to be different. It makes seeing individual cars in person so much more fun. Not gonna lie here, but cobalt blue on a coupe does look pretty damned good. That being said, all time favorite is speed yellow on a cab. If one comes available, let me know ASAP!

You could probably get Biotechee to let go of his for $50k

50 plus the coupe....!!!!!

There is, or was not too long ago (within last 12-16 months), one out in Cali somewhere.... Had around 80-90K miles and was in the low 20's IIRC.

Ahh, the power of the registry!!! Sorry I screwed it up for you.

Haha, no worries. Thats what I get for not buying it for just a bit more than 6k when I talked to him. I think it was like 7kish at that point. I knew he was in a bind. I knew what it was worth. I knew what it was. Didnt know it was the only one, but I knew their werent many. Im foolish for not grabbing it as soon as it hit 6k. It wasnt that price for long. musta only been a day or two. I was gonna jump on it at that price. Price went up before I got the chance to call him again. So yeah, thats what I get for kinda taking advantage of the poor guys situation I guess. Ive been in his shoes, needed to sell quick, and ended up letting it go for nothing, after be waited out. I hate when that happens to me. Besides, turbocharging such a rare car, even if its done wonderfully, just doesnt seem right to me. Would be a shame IMO. White on the other hand......

BTW Jeff, were there any alpine white 968's? Many people call their cars alpine white, when usually its grand prix white. I never seen a 968 with alpine white paint code. Just GP.

Unless it was a color to sample solid car the answer is no. All the white cars are P5 Grand Prix white.

BTW, I'm up to six F2 Maritime blue coupes. They get to be one of one when you add the interior colors.

I think was light grey interior. Entire dash I think. My white is light grey, with black here and there, but only bottom half of dash is grey(top is black). I think bottom being grey is one of the mystery option codes I have. Cant find it anywhere.

Please visit my new website OnlySilver968s.com. It will be dedicated to slamming anyone unthoughtful enough to have purchased a 968 in any color but silver. We will have our own events and park far away from "Them"...

I think we can figure it out. I would guess your base interior is code TS light grey/Black partial leather. Now, you can order deviation options on top of the base interior. Carpet is the most popular deviating option. The photo below is my old cab. It had the code TU light grey/classic gray interior. Now normally this interior (and your's) would having matching light gray carpet. My car was ordered with the deviating carpet option in classic gray. Notice that not only the carpet is different but also the carpet on the lower doors. So, how does this compare to your car?

I almost purchased a Maritime Blue 968 coupe. Sometimes i wish i had because they are so rare. other times i look back at the car i drove and am pleased i did not purchase it. The interior was the worst i have ever seen in any front engine porsche (let alone a 968). The entire interior needed to be replaced (seats were torn, stained, carpet was stained, door panels stained, dash cracked, and it smelled very moldy). IIRC the car had a recessed hood badge, it also had 17" factory wheels. I have pictures on my old pc. I'll upload them if i get a chance.

On the flip side, it was a decent deal back in 2005. 7K Car was located in Long Island.

Would love to have a Maritime Blue coupe for DD duties!

Wouldn't mind having any coupe at this point, really!

In general, the interior is pretty easy to "restore", but not necessarily inexpensive to do so. I'd love to stumble on a good deal for a mechanically solid coupe with a restorable interior. Of course, exterior color choice is top priority...

Another 968'er was at the Barn last month when I was there - since I am terrible with names, I can't recall who he was. But, he had a coupe with which he had the interior redone by someone in Michigan. The work was absolutely outstanding. The seat were recovered and they were basically flawless! No poorly fitting seams, no mistakes, no nothing but a damn fine job! And it was red! Too cool!

I hope he pipes up or maybe Pete will refresh my memory....

It wasnt just the interior. The car needed a lot of work. A lot of mechanical issues here and there. Small stuff, but thinking about it, i would have likely spent more then double the purchase price restoring it...which i guess at 14K (7 x2)...isnt a bad thing. But driving the car with all the vibrations and adding up all the work needed....left a foul taste in my mouth at that time and i turned away.

Best colour for 968 - biotechee - 04-09-2010

You definitely made the right choice, in my opinion, if there were many mech issues and the car didn't feel right.

Wonder where it is right now...?

Thanks for all the compliments on the red interior! It certianly gave the car a lot of life when it was completed. When I bought my 968, it had been abused by some rich guy's kid. The interior was so awefully taken care of that fungus was growing on the carpet and the dash had been punched/knifed repeatedly by some psycho, borderline personality freakshow. The transmission was shot, the brakes didnt work, and the electrical system was full of gremlins. I paid $5000 for the car, and it had somewhere around 20K miles. First, I had the transmission replaced with a new one from PartsHeaven, did the timing belt/tuning, rebuilt the braking system and parts, and then had the interior replaced. The guy who did the interior was in Lansing, Michigan. Luna's Custom Upholstery. Family buisness with a ton of awards and magazine publications. They replaced the carpet and essentially recovered every peice of vinyl in the car as well as recovering the seats. I dropped the car off in the winter, and picked it up in the spring, total cost being $3300 for a completely new interior. I was really impressed with their service and dedication to perfection. They did a fantastic job, and id highly recommend them. I was actually amazed at how easy it was to remove all the moldings and dash, as well as to recover everything. Iv thought about doing it again someday if I ever get a different 968. Next on the list...supercharger and exhaust...drool. See you all at Hershey.
Jon

It does look nice. What color is the "red"? You just used a regular vinyl dye on the dash pad? What did you do with the lower dash, dye or recover?
