It's in. I hooked it up to the two covers on each side (access covers for the roof release bolts) but found they where not strong enough to keep the screen in place. I have already disconnected the bolts enabling me to raise and lower the soft top manually. I glued the covers in place and that secured them. Should I want the electric motor again to run the soft top I would just have to remove the side covers and replace the bolts. I found that raising and lowering the top manually is much safer in the long run.

yeah - the hooks on the elastic straps grab the hinge bar. kind of clumsy.
you should not have had to glue the plugs in. they should grab pretty darned well as they are.

I bet it is not an uncommon problem Flash. The side panels will shrink over the years due to heat and dry out. This will leave the "plugs" (bolt covers) a bigger hole to fill and subsequently make it a loose fit. I did notice this when I loosened the bolts for the soft top. Now we are good. If someone later would like the electric motors back in action (not recommended) they remove the side panels. Must be done anyway to replace the bolts......sorry ..kind of repeating my self here. (For those out there not understanding why the bolts have to be replaced. They are self locking and cannot be re-locked)

i forgot you had a grey interior. that is the only color that i have seen shrink, deform, or discolor. something weird about the grey. didn't have the problem in the white car, but it may only have been a matter of time.

Yes, kind of odd. The rear side panels and the panels around the windscreen has turned brownish over time. Everything else remains the same, instrument panels, dash, doors, seats. I suspect a different type of material was used for these applications. At least it's an even change in color so it does not not look too weird. I would imagine it would be more noticeable on a Cabriolet than a Coupe because of the exposure.
Anyone else with TT Grey interior have the same experience?

yeah - a long known issue. no idea why that particular color does that, but it's extremely common. lol - it's actually pretty rare to find a grey interior that does not have the browning/purpling

The info on this site has always been"good". I have enjoyed so much good information from here and I thank the owners for their support. We will now soon move on to other ownership and I hope they can keep this site alive and vibrant. Moving to another country is a very dramatic experience in your life Bob. As much experience you have with cars and the 968, I master the other subject. My family moved from Copenhagen, Denmark to Marin County, California in December of 1980 with about $2000 in the pocket. We had family here who helped us initially (I hope you have that in Ireland). The key to success is attitude. Adapt to your surroundings and in your case (you are lucky) you speak the language and so did we.
We hope to read your comments and recommendations after you settle across the big pond. ( I know they will be very opinionated.........as my old boss Joe Heitz of Heitz Wine Cellars always said....."you can't have a darn healthy argument...unless you have a strong opinion")

That actually sounds like a philosophy the Irish would embrace and practice quite often so Bob will quickly blend in I think ..

I took a drive today out to the Pacific Coast. A beautiful warm day, top down and wind deflector installed. WOW..you guys where right....what a difference.
