What an exciting time to own a 968.

Would you assume a person with average mechanical skills could install this or would you advise against it?

I have removed the radiator and airbox of the 68 but have never ventured near belts or pulleys. However if I'm bolting it onto an existing drive and direction doesn't matter I would be comfortable with that.

it's really very simple to install for anybody reasonably handy with a wrench

As far as I'm concerned, that adequately describes Max.

Alright that made me laugh Jim.

That's good to hear. By the way it was sounding, I figured it would be.

parts are arriving daily - a few are delayed a couple of days, but most are on reasonable track - a couple more and i can start bolting it together

It's off topic but is this the largest, most followed topic on this forum - ever? I mean 14 page and climbing with 5000+ views! I think we should start a lottery on the final count and offer up a bottle of vino to the best guess

Flash - Do you have an idea if the unit will slot onto a RHD engine?

Get Ready - Get Set - BLOW!!!! - flash - 02-04-2010

forced induction has always been one of the most popular areas of interest - this kit is sure to draw a lot of attention, as it will be something no other kit has yet been (complete) - many are watching in hopes of having one - some are watching only in hopes to take the typical ignorant and cowardly potshot from the cheap seats of another site

as it turns out, i'm in meetings in hollywood all day tomorrow, and may not make it to the machinist to pick up more of my parts before they close, but friday for sure

" some are watching only in hopes to take the typical ignorant and cowardly potshot from the cheap seats of another site"

Let the success of the unit silence them.

This is such a huge undertaking and to consider that the work is primarily being handled by just 2 people, Pete and Bob. Well, I find that very impressive. Most who mock you wouldn't even know where to start.

Get Ready - Get Set - BLOW!!!! - flash - 02-04-2010

lol - true enough - not really worried anyway - nobody really listens to them anyway - just annoying background noise - as you say, we can let the kit speak for itself, just as our other products do

we are very confident that this will be exactly what many feel the car needs - it's not about the specific power numbers either, as much as it is the completeness of the kit, though obviously we want the midrange torque numbers

Moving off-topic along Dave's comment...when I was looking for my 968 - wow, I guess that's approaching 7 years ago - I had a thread on .net that ran over 20 pages. It was the longest for quite some time, then it was eclipsed by the ongoing "rantings" of the great Gildersleeve. (This should bring back some memories to the old-timers.)

Pie in the sky or something? Most annoying thing I've ever read in a forum.

i picked up the mounting plate and standoff brace and such today - will be playing with it this afternoon and tomorrow for fit check and all that

the rest of the parts should be done mid next week

Get Ready - Get Set - BLOW!!!! - flash - 02-05-2010

mounting plate and hardware fit check passed with flying colors

a few small pieces to wait for and i can bolt it all together and fire it up

Get Ready - Get Set - BLOW!!!! - Anchorman - 02-06-2010

WOW...sounds like it's getting close!

Get Ready - Get Set - BLOW!!!! - flash - 02-06-2010

it is!

i expect to have everything in hand by the middle of next week - i am on a site inspection in missouri tues and wed, but i should be picking up the last parts on thursday, installing them, and fit checking - then some of them come back off and go off for powder coating

i think the only thing that might not be done at that point is the engine bay trim cover, and that should be done about the time the parts come back from powder coating

my hope is to fire it up on or about the 19th

Get Ready - Get Set - BLOW!!!! - flash - 02-08-2010

i saw the computer model for the front engine bay cover - LOOKS GREAT!!!

the bolts that hold the drive plate in place arrived today - looks like this is going to be VERY solid

the rest of the parts should be here in a couple of days for fit check

Get Ready - Get Set - BLOW!!!! - flash - 02-09-2010

box, packing and all, probably about 50lbs - not sure if it will be 1 box or 2 though
