Image it's Thursday last week.

 

I stop at an intersection to to let the car in front of me turn right onto a side street.  After the car enters I step on the gas to continue on.

 

Drive about 2 metres and WHAM!!  (and not the "band").

 

Buddy Boy behind me slams into me.  Buddy Girl behind him slams into him.  Buddy Boy, who has NO insurance, now is driving a sandwich.  Buddy Girl, who was ON THE CELL PHONE at the time of impact, has a crushed front end.  My Cayenne has about $10K in damage.  Luckily I was only going about 10 km/h at the time of impact.

 

All in a day's adventure.

The only thing worse than driver with cell phones is drivers who text...there should be a dis abler for drivers.

When I drive my truck, I can see in everybody's car and it blows my mind how many people are using the phone. I bet the majority of wrecks these days is related to inattention ( except to the phone)

that sucks.  not long after i got my blue car,  i got rear-ended by a cell phone talking 70 year old preacher in his brand new lexus suv.  it was only the bumper cover that got hurt, and i got a new one, but still it pissed me off

 

i agree with jay.  phones should be automatically disabled when entering a car.  i know i have used my phone in my car plenty of times, but all of my cars are bluetooth,  and voice controlled, so at least my hands are free, and it's not much more distracting than talking to someone sitting next to you.  still, i could probably wait until i get where i am going to make that call.  after all, that's how it was not that long ago.

 

i never text and drive, and barely text at all anyway.

Unfortunately, the front and rear crumple zones do just what they are intended to do,  crumple and it leads to expensive repairs.

At only 10 km/h which, (if my math is correct), is only 6 mph, I'd rather take most of the force and save the $10K!

Probably the bumper would take the hit at 10 km/h, but according to Kim it was he who was doing that speed. He said nothing about the speed of the person who crashed into his car.

Yes, I was doing 10 km/h.  The guy who hit me was likely doing 30 km/h. He took the biggest hit.

Bill, I'll wager that if you hit a brick wall at 6 mph you'd be one hurting toad, that is unless you are equipped with a crumple zone.
