Porsche Parade 2007 in San Diego
#1

If you're thinking of attending the Porsche Parade in San Diego this year, you'll want to get your registration in the day it opens (March 6th). It's a week long with a ton of events. It's expected to sell out quick.

Porsche Parade 2007

I'd love to see some 968's there. They are having a Porsche Paddock the day of the concours. I know of five or so cars that should be there, I'd love to see a lot more.

Who's in? I am.

I'll be registering, but am thinking we'll take the Cayenne rather than one of the 968s, this time.

I guess I am sort of annoyed that Parade is on the West Coast for the second year in a row. Of course before that it went TX-FL-PA so I suppose the change was due.

I'm definitely going to be there, but again, taking the Cayenne rather than either of the 68s.

I believe Dick Petticrew will be there.

Wow Chris.....driving in from Colorado! Too bad the 968 won't be making it with you. I'm a bit surprised more people aren't on board given the venue, etc.

Yeah, me too. We have driven the 968 to Parades in Hershey and Fort Worth, then also drove to another 968 Celebration in Hershey in it, so it's made plenty of long trips. San Diego will be short in comparison, but this time, we need the space that the Cayenne has for the trip. I will seek out you and your car in SD, though. If you see a Titanium Cayenne with CO plates, that would be us!

We thought about that, but figured we'd have lots of fun in the Cayenne. Plan on autocrossing it, and it should be fun to drive out there and back without worrying about a trailer.

I thought I would be able to go this year, but financially it did not work out; too many maintenance issues caused a huge drain on my funds, almost to the point where everything got maxed out. Needless to say no long trips untill at least after the summer, possibly longer. Ugh <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Very true! Ah well - you planning on being in SD, Flash? If so, Kathleen and I would love to get together with you at some point.

ok - arrangements made - i am only going to the concours on monday, and otherwise blowing the whole thing off - ayn could not go with me, so my interest level was low and i dragged my butt and did not register but will be showing up at the paddock

those who want to run down with me monday morning, get ahold of me by EMAIL not PM

once again pca blew it (it seems that those guys will never learn that this is a BIG event and not a church bake sale), and there is no more registration, and the paddock is full - but there have now been arrangements made for others in a different adjacent area

i came - i saw - i went - no photos - pretty sure chris has some shots though

i ran down to parade today for the concours - i and those i hooked up with there were dismayed - we expected a larger event, especially since we were told it was again oversold (there was PLENTY of space)

clearly they don't understand what a big event is (perhaps they should attend some more mainstream car shows to see)

there was a grand total of 8 968s there - very disappointing - i was expecting at least a dozen, but after talking to a number of people over the last few months, i found that many blow the whole thing off because pca makes it such a huge hassle

the good news is that i hooked up with chris and kathleen - always good to see them - nice lunch - we talked a lot about the lunacy of those at national and just how much they don't get it - someday maybe they'll start doign this thing in an arena and get away from the stuck-on-stupid neighborhood bake sale approach

looking forward to 2009 when it is in their neck of the woods, and hoping they don't get hamstrung by national

I went as well. Different take though. Heck, I was impressed!

First off, I saw Flash's car parked in the lot; and it looked great. Those HREs may be pricey, but you gets what you pay for - they are nice! The new front splitter looked good too (shamless plug)!

Yeah, not a lot of 968s. But some very rare and well prepared vintage 356s, 911s and significant race cars. The 60's and 70s 911s were very "drool" worthy. I also had a nice chat with an owner of a pristine 1989 944 Turbo S with only 17,xxx miles on the clock. The Turbo was dead stock and literally "showroom" new.

Two stunning RUF VIN cars (see pic below), two of the 45 1992 964 USA Cup cars [one with perfect condition, period correct, recaro seats (also see pic below)- YUM!].

So, yeah there weren't a ton of cars. However, there were some real jems to oggle. The weather was "postcard" perfect, the PCAers are an unpretensous group and a smattering of "excellence acticle" worthy cars every where you turned.

Fab time!
