Maybe it's me, but it looks like a 6spd shifter in the car.

Nope that is a tip shifter. No doubt.

One thing I do notice is the placement of the jack. Mine fist behind the spare, this one is mounted directly in front of it.

I saw that to, I had to go check my car if I had those mounts, it would seem much better then where they are now in mine. It's definetly an early car, it has the older upper strut bearings on it.

968Syncro are you referring to the pipe above the water heater line on the right side of the engine - held on with the yellow clips? I also notice additional heat shielding sorta like the add-on offered by RS Barn.

Apex,

I as referring to this looped pipe above the oil cooler.

But I think I got the answer, went through the PET, apparently is the cooler for the power steering fluid. I was never in my car far enough to have noticed this cooler/radiator for the power steering.

It sure is one of the first cars. It has the recessed hood badge and old style 968 logo as well . Makes sense since it was used as a show car on cars shows around the globe as of '91.

Anyone who has a picture of the VIN (left window pillar) or option code sticker?

The sign for the car lists it as a 91.

I've been there and seen that car as well. As a matter of fact a friend of mine used to work at Porsche and may have been involved in building it.

I checked via Google maps how far ir is from Stuutgart to Gmund and it shows ~ 600 KM.

If you use Munich as a base, both Gmund and Stuttgart are easy drives. Of course, if you have the time, stay in Stuttgart, and also down in Austria.
