Favor from someone in the Littleton/Denver, CO area?
#1

I'm having a weld-in roll bar/harness bar built for me at Hanksville Hotrods in Littleton, Colorado. The parts will fit into a box estimated to be 56" x 9" x 38", and will weigh in the neighborhood of 50 pounds. I was wondering if there's anyone who lives in the area who would be willing to pick the package up from Hanksville Hotrods in Littleton, and take it to the Denver Greyhound station to have it shipped to me via Greyhound Package Express, about a 15 mile trip. The roll bar should be ready toward the end of March. This would save a ton on shipping costs relative to going freight. I'd be happy to reimburse you the cost of the gas. Greyhound Package Express is open 24 hours, which makes it pretty convenient. If this is something somebody would be willing to do, please send me an IM. Thanks!

Funny you should mention that. The roll bar I'm getting is a completely different design than the D1R, with different attachment points (and it's a weld-in, as opposed to a bolt-in), so the issues I had shouldn't apply to this one. However, the thought that I should consult with the builder about taking measurements of my car is something that's occurred to me, given how far off my car's seat belt bolt locations are compared to just about any other 968 ever made, so I'll check the measurements I took tonight, and give him a buzz tomorrow. I would feel better if I sent him the measurements of my car's attachment points for the bar he's going to build me.

D1R doesn't make a roll bar, but they do make a chassis brace. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

lol - we tried that. his car is an oddball. the mounting points were way off. he sold it to rap and it fit right into his car though. weird, but it is a 92, and hans may have been knocking off early that day.

in thinking about it after the fact, i could have sent raw pieces and had him weld it into place. it would still have been a whole lot better than a redline unit no matter which way you look at it. that being said, a welded in unit will be better than any bolt in unit, assuming it still has the correct landing plates, and is not relying on vertical welds or bolts to take the rollover load.
