Plug wire tests
#21

I'm glad my DIY helped.

About those pictures. I have a Macro function on my camera (and it is a small camera), so it allows me to stick the camera into very tight spots and still get good pics. I actually use the camera to figure stuff out. By doing this I dont have to contort myself to see how something works.

Just as a general question to you guys that have done this job. What do you think the black build-up in the pipes and valve is? I washed my rags after this job and while all the oil washed out the black residue stayed behind. Could it be Carbon? And if so, how does the Caron deposits end up on the intake side of the engine. I am just wondering if the clogged up valve isn't a symptom of something else that is wrong.

OK, I was browsing the RS Barn website looking at my next mod and came across this statement in the "Indcution Cleaning" link (http://www.rsbarn.com/inductorcleaning.html)

"Modern engines recycle combustion gases and oil vapor through the intake manifold to reduce emissions."

I think I have found the answer, but If someone whishes to enlighten me more please don't hesitate

the Run-rite treatment is nothing short of amazing - i have never been a believer in "wonder goo", and was very skeptical - when i saw this done by pete on a car in PA, i changed my mind

i then did a test on 4 cars here - all 4 exhibited smoother running - power increases due to the better sealing valves were seen in varying amounts, with comments ranging from "seem snappier" to "it feels like the increase of a chip"

Ok, then this seems like something that will compliment the work we have been doing wit the MAF and Idle Control Valve. Can I do this myslef, or is this something a professional needs to do? If I can do this myself which products do I need to buy?

unfortunately this requires some equipment - there are run-rite centers all over, but i'm not sure they are where you are

if you can't find one, i would contact pete and see what he might suggest

Johann,

I had mine done by my PM.
As I recall it uses a machine hooked up to the engine.
It cost me between $100 and $125.
Brian

P.S. My son says that she runs as smooth as before.
