Plastic Model 968 Coupe 1:24 scale Hawagawa (sp?)
#1

Just curious to know if anyone has built the Hawagawa (sp) plastic model of our 968 Coupe in 1:24 scale?

There is one for sale from Hong Kong, for roughly $101.00 shipped...

I would like a nice personalized model of my car, but don't want to spend big bucks if the kit is junk....

Appreciate any advice on this! Be a fun Xmas present to me!

I built a 1:24 model of the 968. I happen to find it at a hobby shop. Don't remember what the brand was. I painted it as close to my Adventure Green as I could find in model paint. I would like to have another one and do a better job. Don't think I paid more than $35 for it. I also have a 1;43 coupe in Adventura Green. I found it at Hershey one year as well as a Polar Silver cab. Don does have the best collection of 968 models and knows the most about what is where.

Hey guys:

I built the Hasagawa kit. Overall nice kit and relatively easy to assemble. I think the results are really nice but that price is way overboard. I paid something like $20 - $25 on Ebay. They appear regularly there so just wait for the right opportunity.

Great Info! Thanks Carl! I am patient and will wait for a better price! It seemed way high to me, but I thoughtt maybe they were uber rare or something!

I think they are rare. I just lucked into the one I found. It seems like it was not a popular model so it appears not many were made. Ergo the price.

Darth,

Sorry for the late response. Ebay has both the Hasegawa 968 Coupe and the Hasegawa 968 CS periodically, but they want $85 plus shipping. Suggest you monitor Ebay and hope for a deal.

My 968 Collection consists of Starter, Minichamp and NZG in 1:43 scale and Hasegawa 1:24 scale Coupes. My display has the 1:43 scale 968 Coupe Blue, 968 Turbo RS ADAC Red, 968 Turbo RS LeMans Yellow, 968 Turbo S Yellow and 968 CS White.

I will have them on display at the Hershey Porsche Swap Meet in April.

The Hasagawa 968 is a very nice model. Easy to construct. Now, if you like building car models, another really nice one that has been re-released is the Tamiya 1/12 Scalre Porsche 910. I still have the same one that I built 40 yers ago and I picked up an unbuilt kit not to long ago. The re-release has some nice photoetched detail parts. There is even a website that you can go to the sells additional detail parts and a detailed set of instructions on how to upgrade the model into a stunning item. I also built Yamiya's 1/12 scale LolaT-70 Chevrolet Coupe which as also been re-released.
