968 Turbos RS..... What are they worth?
#1

How much do you think one of the four original Turbo RS's is worth?

Just curious....

Okay, I'll bite. I would say around $100,000. Personally, if I had $100,000 to spend, I would put it down for one of those machines before I would a new 997 Carrera S. That is saying a lot, since I have driven my buddy's three times, and was blown away each time.

I haven't driven a 997 but that would be a difficult decision for me. I really like the new 997 but owning a piece of 968 history would be very attractive. But that piece of history could only be excercised at the track.

Really thought the post would generate more responses.

I would say $100k, I have heard of sale prices for $125k somewhere a while back. I would rather have a GT3 though for $100k. Or I would build my own for $100k. Just me though.

Every time I have driven my buddy's 997 S, I have been completely amazed. It's steering is so precise, its throttle telepathic, and its Flat 6 symphony so mesmerizing! I also had the opportunity to drive the new Boxster S, and I must say, with all its refinement, it is on part with the early 996!

I enjoyed this thread topic, and hope that others will chip in with their thoughts.

As much as I love the 968, IMO, $ 100,000 is far better spent on a one or two year old Aston Martin DB9 , or, the GT3.. unless of course you're buying it simply as a piece of history which would be perfectly understandable.

I drove my friend's '04 Carrera 4 cab ( not the S ) and was not impressed at all. I'd take my 968 over it any day, any time, even at equal price, much less at 4X the cost ! So it sounds like the 997 must have been refined quite a bit !

Absolutely! I think that Porsche has made an impressive update. Not only am I pleased with the return to lovely 993-esque lines, but the experience is superb. I am very proud of Weissach for this evolutionary leap!

About one year ago, a 968 Turbo RS has been sold for EURO 89.000,- in Germany.

The car was advertised in a good condition, and as far as I remember sold quite fast.

So, 100K$ should be the price to pay for one of 12-14 of the best car ever built.

I'm not 100% certain, but I recall hearing that the price paid by Jason Burkett for his 968 TRS was significantly less than $100K... more like $50K to $60K.

But I could be way wrong.

If that is true, it is quite surprising! Wow!
