One figure amazed me... its almost 7 inches longer than the Cayenne !

not my cup of tea - i think that has got to be the biggest abomination they have ever done - looks to me like a cross between a hyundai, a for taurus, and a crossfire

It is going to take some time and effort to get used to the look -- not immediately interesting.



My first reactions was: "Oh Jaguar brought out a new car." (cat eye headlights, rear window trailing curve)



I think it is a mistake to structure it as a hatchback, high end sedans need to look like one, with a real trunk design at the rear.



But I am sure it will be an incredible performer of very high quality.

The front 3/4 shot of the turbo is beautiful! Great looking front end. Us Americans have never really been sold on a 4 door hatchback. We'll have to wait and see. The looks will take some getting used to but the performance will probably cure a lot of the trepidation...

If I had the money I'd have this as my daily driver!



I think this car will be popular because it is not as politically incorrect as the Cayenne. I know I will choose this over a 7 series, A8 or S-class any day.

Let's look at the upside. Front engine, rear drive.



Now, if they can remove the rear doors and seats, loose 2000 pounds, and put a ragtop on it we might have something. Oh, and a manual 6-speed.

Hmmm...I wonder if I could get those headlights to fit my 968!



Not bad looking, except for the rear. Oh, well - I guess I'll have to borrow my son's Quattroporte when I want to use a luxury 4-door.

It pretty much looks like I would expect a sedan from Porsche to look. Overall, not too bad, but definitely not my cup of tea, either. Very bad timing for Porsche to introduce an ultra-expensive luxury sedan just as the world is slipping into what looks like could be a fairly steep recession.

I went to the Charlotte Auto Show yesterday and among all of the really nice toys they had a new Quattroporte. I still believe it's the most beautiful sedan ever designed and built. Everything else pales in comparison.

I couldn't agree more. The Quattroporte is the very definition of rolling sculpture. I can't see how it could ever be matched, let alone surpassed.

It is, indeed, quite a stunning car (the Quattroporte, that is). The interior of the one my son has is done in a combination of leather in the Maserati blue and creme suede. Simply gorgeous. "Rolling sculpture" is a very fitting description.

That is going to be my test - how does it look in person. It seems unbalanced in photos, but I'm willing to hold off on judgement.



I was unpleasantly surprised by the big PORSCHE badge on the rear hatch - a significant departure from the corporate look on the Cayenne/Carrera/Boxster/Cayman lines. I suppose they want people to know what it is... but didn't they face the same issue with the Cayenne?



At least they did not emboss the name directly into the panel... Do'ah!

Not really. The car isn't due to be officially launched until summer of next year. It wouldn't surprise me if the first public viewing wasn't until the Geneva show in March. Could even be later. I spoke with Hans-Peter himself, and he mentioned that he would be involved with a Panamera launch activity in early July. We've been lucky in having them on our roads here for the last year or so. At least we know they'll work well in high altitude conditions.

if it's going to be an 2009 car, regardless of what time of year, they should have had it at this show, like ALL 2009 releases should be - isn't that the point of these shows? - if it's a 2010 car, then i get it
