I can't seem to get this error code to go away. It started as an oxygen sensor code which was replaced and now the oxygen regulation code. I've since cleaned the MAF very thoroughly and replaced the air filter for good measure. Not sure where to go from here. Everything is stock/old at 120k miles.
Thanks

I looked at the MAF connector but was unsure how to go about cleaning it so I did a simple blow on it. It looked clean for the most part. I didn't want to bend anything as I know how costly the MAF is. I waited 10 minutes and then reattached the MAF and didn't drive the car until the next day. I unplugged the battery for about 30 minutes to clear the code. It didn't come up with a 1-5, it was just a solid check engine light. This is the second time cleaning the MAF. I had the error code cleared at my mechanics shop after the first time I cleaned the MAF.

As I had thought. For some reason my car will not reset the check engine light with the accelerator trick. I've tried it every possible way a million times. No go on it. I'm still not sure it is that because I did have the mechanic reset it after I had cleaned it.

I may have to take you up on that but want to try a couple things first. I'm going to try disconnecting the battery again, and unplugging the DME and seeing if that gets it to reset. Think changing the DME relay may help assuming it does fully clear but the error comes back?

Okay, so I disconnected the DME and it cleared the code. I got a 1-5. But now after driving to work the oxygen regulation still comes up <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> I'm out of ideas.

Check all your vacuum and breather lines. Trace them from end to end to verify both ends look correct and not loose or detached.

Intermittent- 1-2-2-3. It doesn't come on until I get to the freeway(about 15 miles later) and have been driving a bit and then it's off and on.
Everything is stock except for a K&N air filter I put in a week ago but this code has been coming up for about 4 months. Well... It started as an oxygen sensor code that was also intermittent, and then now the oxygen regulation once the oxygen sensor was replaced.
I don't touch anything in there. This is the most i've ever done myself to the car. I'm quite proud of myself actually.
Car runs normally, a bit slow maybe. Nothing really has ever seemed out of the ordinary even with the oxygen sensor error code(again it was maybe a bit slower).
Even my mechanic doesn't really touch anything. I've only ever had him do the timing belt, pinion bearing, oxygen sensor and oil changes. My car hasn't needed anything else.
