Yes both survived, although with major injuries.

On the same site there was this video of a Bugatti being eventually hit ( albeit slightly ) by a car involved in a separate accident in proximity, all caught on the onboard cam inside the Bugatti. Not sure what a classic Bugatti ( looks like a 30s or 40s era ? ) can cost whether it's multiple millions or a lot less, but definitely a collectors car, and that's not a pretty thing to watch happen to your car on a pleasant drive in your classic..

Only about $600-$700k for that Bugatti...not bad for a Sunday driver.

Wow, that looks like it caught fire. Hard to believe they got out of that. They wiped out a lot of guard rail.

I think most of that will buff right out ( have to use a higher grade paste and definitely a dual orbiting buffer ..)

But yeah, shocking they escaped alive . I suppose it's a pretty good testament to the car's safety built, although there maybe so many other variables that could have helped ; how much the braking might have slowed the car down, at what angle it hit the guardrail and dragged alongside it which could have slowed it further and maybe even stabilized it to some extent, yada, yada, yada. The story I read indicated the injuries to both were " severe and major " , but did not say life-threatening . Undoubtedly they got out somehow before the fire started , or were pulled out. The driver looked a little chubby ( not that there's anything wrong with that ) so maybe had a bit more " cushioning " to protect him from breaking every bone in his body . :-) :-)

Ha! I was going to comment on his chubby hands and arms too, not exactly race car driver physique.

Chubby hands, chubby arms, chubby knees and thighs, but I suppose in the eyes of some women that car takes at least 75 lbs off of him. Although I suspect now, he has a hell of a lot more things to worry about than getting laid, lol.

Up shifted with his pinky - lame.

Idiot is all I can say.  200 mph on a public highway for an extended period.  What did he expect.  I hope he did not kill anyone else, and hopefully the gov't will pull his ticket for good.

That's what's nice about the track. Doesn't mean you can't end up with the same result but it sure is safer for all involved.
