Old member - hopefully now a "lurker"
#1

So as many of you know my 968 has been up for sale.  Well, someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse so it has been sold. Probably will be shipped out of here in two weeks. Only on the market for a week!

It will have a nice home in Atlanta, GA, the buyer is very excited to get it.  I'm encouraging him to join the Forum.  Hopefully no one here will say bad things about me to him. Wink  I convinced him I knew my way around a 968.

There's a lot of great people on here and I have made some good friends, even had the chance to share some fine wine with some of you. And learned a whole lot about my car and its upkeep.

I bought the car in 2005, and drove it on many adventures. So it's like parting with an old friend. Will be a sad day when it is loaded on the transporter.

Hopefully the site moderator will let me drop in for an occasional visit and leave a wry comment or two. Maybe I'll even remember a technical tip or two to share.

Best to all,

Bob

HI Bob,

Once a 968er, always a 968er...we know you'll be back  Smile

I hope you'll introduce the new owner to this site, and hope that he/she will be as excellent a steward of your 968 as you have been.

Don't be a stranger,

Jay

Well Bob, it was a pleasure driving with you and getting to know you at the West Coast Gatherings. I understand we have a mutual Porsche friend there, so please tell Ray I said hello next time you see him.

If the new owner needs any advice on the relays for the alarm system, he is welcome to reach out to me at any time.

I understand...

Best wishes for many many new adventures with the 996!!

And, as they say, there's a formula for the # of Porsches you should own. That formula is N+1 (N is the number you currently own)...I'm down to 3...

What can I say that hasn't already been said in the preceding posts ;.I echo those sentiments.   You will definitely be missed but I truly hope you keep your promise and chime in occasionally .   Best of of luck with everything which follows  !

Dan

p.s.  Any tips on how you sold the car so quickly ?    Where did you advertise it  ?   Also since it was an out of state buyer, was this a sight-unseen transaction just based on photos and not much else ?   That's how I bought my 968 .

Ditto to whats been said above Bob.

Its funny (ironic) that the buyer of your car was from Atlanta as thats where my car came to Arizona from. I bought it in the Phoenix area last year and traced its history back to Atlanta and Charleston before that.

It was nice meeting up with you and Linda last month. Sad to see the 968 go. I know you will regret it. I did as well when my 29000 mile 1980  928 went away to Reno........Oh well...life goes on..... We will see you out here again soon and I will rub it in ..with the Amethyst Dazzler

Thanks, guys! I'll be staying in touch, I will dress my 911 up in 968 badging for next summer gathering :-)

Matt, how did you know I still haven't gotten all the relays working? Been too busy doing nothing to finish. Ray speaks remarkable well about you :-)

Dan, I listed it on the PCA Web site and had 3 people serious within a couple of days. I wasn't expecting that response, it was all over before I could reconsider.

Rap, I'll do my best to help you continue to keep Dan properly oriented.

I do get over to n. Cali several times a year. Maybe we can find a time to meet up. We met Kaj and Birgetta last month for lunch.

Thanks Bob,as you’ve no doubt noticed he gets more difficult as he ages. I was delighted to see you had a quick response at a good price. Dan now has some hope at his $75,000 price tag.

Family and forum members ( redundancies..) can buy that car at a major discount off of the $ 75 K price . But just to be clear, the green one, not the blue one !! ;-)

Bob ( Az ) - when you plan to visit the Bay Area , please send me an email at : sandru@comcast.net and hopefully we’ll be able to reconnect on one of your upcoming trips. That’s if you manage to jump over the wall our governor plans to build around the state and make Az, Nv and Or pay for it ..

And I knew the previous owner of your car, if my memory serves me well. They were members of the AZ 968 Krew.

Looks suspicious to me ..she’s wearing gloves ...in Arizona ?! Yeah, sure you’ll tell me that it gets chilly at night in the desert, but I still think she’s casing the car, and was planning to take it for a joy ride without leaving any fingerprints .

Dan, it was 33 that evening, but I wasn't wearing gloves so you may be on to something. HK will have to check mileage at the other end.

So was in Mendocino today (visiting our daughter in Ukiah) cause it was a whole lot cooler. That was a fun gathering there two years ago. Bill, I still have the photo of the wine bottles lined up on the hotel deck rail while you, Tina and I were enjoying some on CA's finest cash crop :-)
