New Porsche 968 Coupe owner
#1

Hello,

I've recently purchase the car that use to adorn my bedroom wall in my teen years - the Porsche 968!  While I always thought the 911 series was a "cool" car, the 968s and 928s were the center of my desire. I loved the more modern, functional design that both these cars offered. The 968 was by far the car I wanted the most because of its wonderfully balanced handling and "attainable" price. Well, fast forward 20 years and I finally have one! A really clean, all stock 1994 968 with all service records since new. All paint is original and shinny and the interior looks like new. It even has that typical new Porsche smell (whatever chemicals Porsche used 22 years ago that still maintain their aroma is beyond me). I live in Miami and in a town with so many exotics, its amazing how many stares and thumbs-ups I get overtime I drive the car. It's jut spectacular. And I have the Tiptronic option which is perfect for the crazy stop-and-go traffic I live with. It's really uncanny how intuitive the Tiptronic is. I know it has 5 "shift map" programs based on my pedal inputs, steering angle and lateral accelerometers but it goes beyond that and just seems to "know" exactly the right gear I want to be in and knows exactly when I like to shift. It's nearly as good as my new DSG in my VW TDI - really amazing tech for a car that's approaching its 1/4 century mark.

At any rate, I just wanted to pop in to say hello to my fellow 968 aficionados and I look forward to reading more from you all.

Best,

Joe

Welcome. Hope your time with your 968 lives up to your fantisies! I'm still waiting for Farrah Fawcett to show up at my door in a red bathing suit ☺

Thanks, Jay! I just posted but I'm not sure how others can see them. I made them in a Gallery!  Best, Joe

I had a Lotus Super Seven on my wall........still love that car.....but I am older now....The original water cooled Porsche's are still awesome. Hope you enjoy your 968 as much as I/we do......they are on their way to become classics.

I had a poster of a Porsche 910 airborne at the flugplatz on my dorm wall. Also had a GT-40 poster and a Cobra Daytona Poster. Wish I had them now.

Can't see the gallery, must have been some amazing pictures. How did Miami968 get banned after only 7 posts?

No idea , but I think a thread which Miami968 started ( re convex side view mirrors ) seems to have disappeared, or at least I can't locate it .. so I guess whatever he caused to earn the banned status must have been in that thread ..prompting the moderators to delete the posts ?
