New Member in Rochester, New York
#1

Hi everyone, my name is Colden Cullen, and I just bought a 1993 968 Coupe! I am very excited to own one of these special cars, and I look forward to becoming a member of the community!

Just some quick background information on me, I attend Rochester Institute of Technology, and am studying Game Design & Development. I grew up in the Albany, NY area, before moving up to the Adirondack Mountains for high school.

I'm happy to be a member here, and I look forward to discussing fun stuff with all of you!

Hi Colden,

I'm a Binghamton native, though currently living a few miles away from there now. Lots of upstate people around these parts. In addition to Tama, hk968 is in Corning and there's another new member (can't recall his nick at the moment) living in Syracuse.

If you have any questions about your car, don't hesitate to ask. There are lots of DIYers here, myself included. Enjoy your car!

Welcome and congratulations on the purchase,

We 968 people are a funny bunch. We like to believe that we are the ones who can see real value and merit in what is a vastly under-rated car. Unlike the majority of the herd who only see a 911 as a true Porsche. The 968 is fun, beautifully balanced (not something you ever hear a 911 called) and practical as well (being a progression from a 944 and you can fit 14 cases of beer in a 944 - as if any more proof is required).

Like all cars, it has its own issues that need to be monitored, but the Forum is a great place to learn about these, if you don't already know.

Hopefully the car will bring a lifetime if great memories. Where you are must have some great driving roads (I lived in PA for a while in Erie), but winter mustn't be much fun.

Welcome to the forum and do some more posts, then show us some photo's of the car.

Ask lots of questions and search the Forum for previous posts. Lots of great info here.

All the best.

Welcome and enjoy your ride! You are now in a special club that is quite exclusive. Exclusive from the perspective of the number of units of our cars that are out there.

Welcome! I live in Corning, just two hours from Rochester.

I travel to Fairport quite frequently for business, and I also get the big things (e.g. timing belt change) done in a shop in Rochester (Eksten Autoworks).

Enjoy your car!

Welcome, tell us more about your new to u 968? Color, options, where u found it etc.

The car is "Amazon Green" (the name of which I don't get, its definitely a blue color), with a "Saddle" interior. As for options, I don't have the options list in front of me, but I can remember that definitely has the colored wheel crests, the sunroof, the HiFi sound system, as well as a few others. I ended up getting it from a guy just outside of Reading, PA, after a fairly tireless search for a car with reasonable mileage that fell within my somewhat-limited budget.

I haven't gotten to drive the car much, as I basically just drove it up to R&D, my shop in Albany. The few hours of seat time I did get were very enjoyable, I never regretted my decision for a minute! What a fun car...

@hk968 Good to know on the shop in Rochester. I'm going to end up getting most of my stuff done in Albany, as that's where my family is and my father has a 20-some-odd year relationship with the guys there, but knowing there's a quality place near me in case of emergency is comforting.

I also hope to meet as many of you in the area as I can! Hopefully we'll cross paths at Autocrosses, DEs at WGI, etc.

Hi ColdenCullen,

Welcome to the elite of 968 owners. I have have my cab now a bit over one month and have done some upgrading, like drilled brakes (rotors) with good pads, new 17 inch wheels with new tires, roll bar, etc 'small' things to be ready for end of this month to have some fun at Glen. Come and see what DE is all about, that is why I go over there and of course to learn to know other 968 owners.

I am located in Syracuse, or actually one of my center is there, living in Skaneateles, however used to have one of our OptiGolf centers in Victor, so I know Rochester are quite well.

Welcome and enjoy, Mark
