New member of the forum and looking forward to chatting with everyone. I recently purchased a 1995 polar silver metallic cab with midnight blue interior. Ive always admired this car. I also previously owned a 1962 356 B super 90. I do like working on cars but have to admit the Variocam is a bit intimidating to dive into since it seems like a 3D puzzle that requires a few specialized tools lol. Looking forward to getting stuck and hoping to give/ get help getting unstuck.

Welcome mjd23

The variocam is a neat mechanism, not a difficult job to replace pads and chain, but im glad i spent for the cam saddles special tool for convenient and simple R&R of the cams and chain.

How many miles on your car, and have u inspected the cam pads for wear?

Thats a good job to do by 90k miles, if not sooner.

Forum advanced search will provide u with plenty to read.

And ask away. Abundance of knowledgeable and friendly folks here

Oh and BTW, be sure to look closely at cam sprockets for cracked or missing teeth. I had a broken tooth with another about to go; sent both cams for repair with new sprockets. Not cheap but half the price of 2 new cams.
