Hello All,

My current daily driver is a 944 cab, 5-speed in black with a custom tan interior. I've had it for about 10 years and put 55,000 miles on it for a total of 75,000. I've always had my eye out for the perfect 968 cab -- in amazon green or dark blue. At this point I may be looking for a tip -- for heavy city driving.

Look forward to 'talking',

Paul

Hi Paul, I'm a 15 year 968 owner and I live in Trumbull. Are you in the Porsche club? If you want to stop by and talk 968s sometime send me a PM.

Welcome. I'm in Glastonbury and have a 968 and early 944. You a PCA CVR member? You should come to an autocross next season.

Thanks for the welcome, Jeff and 'Aslet.'

No, I'm not in the PCA. I've been in a bunch of marque clubs in the past. They've been fun. Do you recommend PCA?

Hi. I'm in the Fairfield area.

I am a new 968 owner (and no expert) but I find some well maintained cars on:

1. pelican parts: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-c...speed.html

2. excellence magazine http://www.excellence-mag.com/classifieds

Welcome!

So you're looking for a good 968 cab?

Often mentioned by other 968ers, I'll reiterate suggestions here. Join the CT Region of PCA and keep an eye on the classifieds in their newsletter, and make it known what you're looking for. The national PCA is also worth joining, their monthly magazine Panorama also has classifieds. Visit reputable independent Porsche mechanics/repair shops in your area and check out their bulletin boards for cars for sale (chances are good they've worked on them and know some maintenance history).

I bought my '94 cab on Ebay and was extraordinarily lucky. I bought it from an independent Porsche shop in Burbank, CA. It was the owner's personal cab and he had recently done all the top end work (new belts, timing chain, chain guides, water pump, head gasket--all the stuff you'd worry about. Plus new clutch, paint, new soft top, new leather interior, suspension, refinished stock wheels and a bunch more. I flew down from Portland to pick it up and on close inspection it was as advertised. I drove it home with a permanent grin on my face, sold my 944S, and put the 968 in the garage. I called the seller before closing the auction to answer all my questions, and like I said I was lucky. I don't recommend you follow the same path without a lot of due diligence on your part beforehand.

The 968 is a better car than the 944S or 944S2. Find a good one and you, too, will grin every time you hit 6th gear. Good hunting!
