I need to find a replacement luggage cover for the rear storage area. this is the retractable part that attaches to the hatch. Any suggestions of a source for this?

The David Honl Co. makes aftermarket rear luggage covers for the 968 coupe. I have one that I found on eBay and it is good quality and hard to distinguish from my factory original that had a broken end tab and a tear in the fabric. I second the David Honl product as an alternative. I could be wrong, I believe they are selling on eBay under a different name: eBay auction

I have found that the Sunbrella cloth version is far preferable to the vinyl OEM - though some cars came with the cloth originally. I cannot tell from the eBay ads if these are cloth or vinyl.

I have emailed that ebay seller three times to find out more details on the constructions and heard nothing back. I have also googled David Honl and located a web-site but it doesn't come up. They were located in Long Beach, I think. Does anyone have other information about them? I found a stock one from the guy parting out a 968, but the sunbrella fabric sounds like a better direction.

That eBay ad has the photo back up (the pics were missing for awhile). The item looks identical to the David Honl cover I have in my 944 -- but it's hard to tell from the photo alone. The original David Honl product also had a couple of choices of color (one choice was burgandy, another was black...)

I have the cloth original one out of my '92. Black, could use a bit of cleaning, but really doesn't work with a cage installed. Shoot me an e-mail if it may help.

Well, I finally got an answer from the ebay seller. It is David Honl and, as noted above, he restored the picture. They are made from a material similar to Sunbrella and only come in black. I went ahead and ordered one.

Pictures below. It doesn't limit storage any more than the factory original. That is, it sort of gets in the way of piling things to the roof, but you can pull it back for that!
