My D1/RSB account is now empty
#1

Until Flash gets off his Azz. I've decided to purchase the following.

Carbon turbo wing. I always wanted one of these.
An original front splitter.

My car has no batwing and no screws so I'm not sure what size screw is needed. Is there one I can pull form another section of the car that's the same as whats under the bumper?

Got a feeling that I'll still be the first to purchase the D1 product but with all the time and attention this SC kit is getting I suppose it will be a while. So until I crack this one, I'll back off my relentless pleading for the production of the one Flash has.

lol - funny stuff

you will need the front apron - the motorsport splitter sandwiches between it and the bumper cover

yup, I know.

There was one on ebay for a 944 but had the wrong part number and a slightly different style (just 4 very thin slats on teh underside, other then that it was smooth). Shame because it was a local guy. Chances are, when one is found it will not have the screws.

they are just sheet metal screws (except for the two end nuts) - there are clips that go on the bumper cover to catch them (much like speaker panel clips)

Gotcha. Thanks

Getting the wing arms primed, painted & clear coated today. Hopefully I will be able to find that apron w/o going through sunset. Cant see paying so much for a used piece of plastic.

Nice! It's about time.
When you order the appron, tell them you need the hardware.
It think all the screws and clip nuts are like $8.
You could gt them from harbor frieght or home depot though.

I got these from a former 968 owner. He got them direct from Porsche many years ago, so he told me. He never installed them his 968 which he has recently sold. So i took advantage of his garage cleaning.

A wing like it can be found here http://www.americaninternationalracing.com...246&page=75 but it doesn't appear to be carbon fiber (the CF is what i really like about it). Its a bit pricey to but our old wings should get half the money back on ebay as 944 owners snatch them up.

I'm hoping to grab one off ebay and do the Home depot thing but I need an example of the screw to take w/ me.

I should make some molds for one of those rear spoilers...I've never seen one in person, but given some dimensions, I could make a damn good looking part in Solidworks. It looks like the originals are hard to find and the aftermarkets have questionable quality. I imagine I could tweak the shape a bit...and I have plenty of composite contacts...I'm sure it would be a big waste of time and money, but isn't that what hobbies are for?

The rear could prob get you around 600ea and I think you could easily sell a dz

the batwing however would prob be easier to make and fits both 68s and 44s. Your going to sell more as some, like me dont have them at all and those that do, there are pretty beat up. Sell at 100ea whaddya say partner?

the lower items do NOT necessarily fit both the 968 and 944 - the 944S2 and 951 for example are about 2" wider at the bottom edge at the tire than the 968 - i'm not sure about the early 944

That explains the 944 vs 951 part numbers. The S2 has the same bumper as the 51 so it all makes sense.

So this would be too wide for my car.

i dont think the rear spoiler is oem from Porsche. The OEM adjuster plates have a black anodized finish. Aftermarket spoilers usually have a silver finish like mine and yours. That CF does look higher quality then what i have however. You have any close up shots?

Here are two pictures to show you;

You can see the adjuster plates in both pics. The yellow car is a factory Turbo S & the black car has an aftermarket full CF Turbo S spoiler (American International Racing like mine).

PS....post pics once you have the spoilers installed.

I see. I'll post a pic tomorrow before install. I notices your arms for the wing are alos CF. Mine are not. The actual wing however weighs nothing, has a high polish on it.

It's tempting, I've got the technology. So the bat wing is the fairly flexible plastic tray that has about 20 screws on the leading edge of the front bumper?

The CF spoiler pictured is not my car. That pic was stolen from ".net" I'm guessing your spoiler is also an AIR unit like the one pictured as well as mine. AIR will do whatever you ask them to pretty much. CF bridge & arms, F brdge W/ fiberglas arms, or full fiberglass.

There is at least one other company that makes Turbo S spoilers. I saw a CF 968 spoiler on a 951 which also had the silver adjuster plates. That one wasnt made by AIR (dont recall who made it) and the CF was also higher quality then mine.

On the flip side, many people complain about the fit and finnish of the factory Turbo S spoilers. Either way, your car is going to look great. Do you plan to color code the CF bridge or leave it exposed similiar to my car?

Yeah, the wing doesn't look to be a factory piece. The center section should be thick fiberglass and the end tabs anodized and of a different shape. The good news is that it could easily be of better quality than an original.
