Moving to NC
#1

Its official. Purchased a home in South Charlotte today. I will be relocating the '92 968 cab to North Carolina in early August. My car was first registered in MI, then TN, then CA, and now NC...and has clocked less than 29,000 miles in the process. Any NC/SC 968ers please send an email so you can let me know about events, contacts etc. Thanks in advance!

Note to Flash, Dave G. and Ron: Thanks for getting me started with such a great car.

How far will you be from Atlanta? I've tried to get interest in a social in Atlanta for the Southern owners, but there has not been any interest yet.

ATL to CLT is 4+ hours...certainly can be done. Maybe a trip to the coast would also be a possibility.

I would definitely be up for a GTG in Atlanta. Sounds great! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Welcome to North Carolina!

As a transplanted Californian, I have come to love the state - except for the humidity of course! Remember that now that you are in the South barbeque is a noun, not a verb. You also need to take a personal stand on ACC basketball (NC State, Duke, or Carolina). Much of the success of your social life will depend on your answer (I suggest supporting the Wolfpack, but make your own decision).

The PCA Carolinas Region is one of the best in the country. My region, Hurricane (covering the state from Raleigh to the coast and down to Myrtle Beach), has 3 968s at last count. Charlotte has fabulous car events - even for non-NASCAR people. The BMW plant has a great tour and does an annual Euro-fest that is very good. The mountain roads to your west are some of the best in the country and include the famous "Tail of the Dragon." Supposedly Porsche Parade in 2007 will be at the Biltmore in Asheville.

Thanks RPM. I was a PCAer in Columbia and then Charleston. I spent four years in Orlando and 2 in LA, so getting back to the South is a good thing for the family. I'm a Carolina grad (and I need to clarify South Carolina for those of you in the NC and its the REAl USC for those of you in SoCal). Anyway, I'm looking forward to meeting up with more of the 968 clan.

Gene,

Let us know when you get settled in and we'll do some drinks and grilling in the back yard. You Duckman and I are all probably within about 5 minutes of each other (if you live anywhere near StoneCrest or Ballantyne). The invite is open to anyone in the area, so hopefully we'll get a few additions. We haven't had many local get togethers since Bob Mallaney left the fold, but we'll try and get him to come by as well. Look forward to meeting you.

Chris

Gene, I'm sorry the modeling career didn't work out for you over here in Hollywood. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Good luck in North Carolina, and let me know when you start working on putting that V8 in your car.
