Monterey, CA
#1

I have a 1992 tip coupe, midnight blue metallic w/ cashmere interior. Got it in 2002, then our daughter arrived in 2003. Now she's old enough to ride in it without a car seat, which won't fit. The car recently turned over 100k mis.

I haven't done anything to it other than maintenance type things, although I do have a tech question to ask. My mechanic doesn't know and neither does the dealer.

The car went through 5 owners before I got it, so some of its history is unknown, but it was originally a Florida car, brought to California by the guy I bought it from.

I have a few photos of it that I took when I first got it - it still looks the same. Can't post them yet - I'll try in the next posting. I used to belong to another forum, but it seems to be defunct now.

I got to drive in the parade laps at Laguna Seca at the Historic Auto Races yesterday. That was a lot of fun! My daughter even enjoyed it!

Thanks for the welcome. Paso Robles is a great place for the North & South to meet - I was there for a 914 gathering before I got the 968. When is it held?

typically spring time - we'll be shooting for a bit earlier this year, likely late april - this will be the 7th annual run - you can check out threads about the previous events, as well as galleries of photos in the events section of the gallery

The Showroom section - is that the Galleries?

Why is it that when I click on the "insert image" icon above I get a prompt to enter a URL?

no - the showroom is in the Reading Room

to add an image you click on "choose file" - you won't have access to that though until you hit Rookie status - this is to prevent certain images from getting posted while we "watch" new members, and to try to limit the amount of post shifting we have to do in the event that they get put in the wrong place

your next post will graduate you to Rookie level, and you will have access to just about everything

Welcome

I was at the historics both days. Saw you doing the parade laps. There was also a Silver coupe and a white cabrio in the parade. There were 590 Porsches parked in the corral on Saturday according MBPCA. There were only a couple of other 968s in the 968/944 Section. Mine, a Red Coupe, a Midnight Blue Coupe (yours ?) and a Grey Cabrio. On sunday the cars were parked in no particular order so I didn't see any other 968s except during the parade lap.

The Northern California contingent should give some thought to getting together at both Sears Point and/or Laguna Seca for the Historic races and at Laguna for the ALMS. WE are blessed to have two very nice race venues to choose from.

It would be great if other 968'rs wanted to come to the Historics at Laguna Seca. Monterey Bay Region of PCA puts together the corral every year - this year was more notable due to Porsche being the marque. Usually there are only about 2-3 968s, including mine. The midnight blue coupe you saw was probably mine - especially if it had a thermal coffee mug in the aftermarket cupholder. I thought I was parked next to an Amazon green cab, though. It was nice having the cars arranged by type.

The cab may well have been Amazon Green. My sunglasses sometimes distort the true color of things and I didn't take them off when I was looking at the cars.

If winemaking doesn't get in the way, I'll probably go down to Laguna for the ALMS race in October. Perhaps I'll see you there.

My wife and I are flying to Cal. with Michelin in Oct for the ALMS race. Really juiced for it. Will Porsche have a hospitality area?

Don't know if Porsche will have a hospitality area. They have had a Porsche Platz in the past, but I don't know about this time. Monterey Bay Region only does the corral for the Historics, not any of the other races. I could ask a SCRAMP person, but I think they are burned out right now after the Historics and need some recovery time.

I posted a few pix of my car in the Reading Area/Showroom.
