minor accident
#1

My wife was actually driving the car this morning. She was at a stop sign and was hit. She is fine. Light damage to the right rear. Maybe just paint. Will be hard to blend though and I will probably have to fight for a full bumper re-spray rather than the half the adjuster will want.

Other bummer is the possibility that the other driver's insurance will not be valid. Without making a judgement, let us just say that his immigration status is in doubt. He left the scene in cuffs, apparently on an outstanding warrant. Was a nice guy who apologized a bunch of times in perfect English. I suspect his world just went down the tubes and no amount of paint can fix it. His girlfriend's car and she was with him so I can just hope that policy exists ...

A fairly crappy morning for all concerned. At least no one was injured.

ouch! - very sorry to hear that - been there - i wish we had no fault insurance - it would resolve all of that - many states do, but california is not one of them yet - danged lawyers just won't let it happen

Do you carry uninsured/underinsured motoris insurance. It's pretty cheap and meant to help out in situation like that.

sorry to hear about the misadventure RPM. . . good luck with the reconditioning.

We could lock our cars in climate controlled garages and just look at them. . . but Porsches are meant to be driven! So we do.

rz that is one sharp avatar you have there. If the bumper was sorta damaged it would match my ride perfectly.

Thanks for the compliment on the avatar, got bored one day at work and gave Photoshop CE a try.

This year went though the same thing, result was paint flaking from the flexible bumper panel. It took awhile, the other party (at fault) was insured by State Farm who wouldn't pay to refinish the panel. Had to file a claim through our insurance, AllState which agree to refinish the whole panel. The whole panel was removed and sent to a specially shop to be stripped, repaired and prepped. The flexible panel requires a different paint (for flexibility) and should not be sprayed with the same paint as the metal body panels. The shop did a great job and it matches. In our case the shop wouldn't guarantee the work unless the panel was stripped of paint to reveal underlying damage.

good luck, sp4149
