ridiculously pissed
#1

so, for the first time in my life, i decide to sit down and watch the game.  i get some ridiculously low cal snacks, some nice savignon blance, and sit down in front of the big screen.

all is right with the world, right up until halftime.  then, like a light switch was flipped, the wife gets hammered and causes me to hit "pause" on everything.

we had set the dvr to record the game, so i figured i was fine.  unfortunately i did not double check the wife's programming, which ended before the end of the game, so i when i went back to watch it after she passed out, missed it.

i am beyond pissed, on so many levels

don't worry, the commercials are mostly available to watch online.

Well you didn't miss all that much. Most Super Bowl games are a contest between two very good defensive teams so that game itself isn't going to be a contest of spirited offense. The game is won by the team that makes the fewest mistakes or in some cases whoever has the ball last.

You SoCal light weights shouldn't be drinking sauvignon blanc if you can't make it past half time. Next time light beer. As appoint of comparison, we killed a15 year old Pinot Noir and aback of ribs.

Has the car taken the stuffing out of the two of you? Low cal snacks? Was that some kind of jerky?

I wish my wife passed out more often.

You did not miss much, this was one of the least exciting games in recent memory . With all due credit to Denver's unbelievably fast defense, which did make a big impact, Carolina essentially beat themselves with penalties and turnovers...not to mention two or three horrible calls made against them ( I think Stevie Womder was the ref for his SB ) on key plays which may have destroyed the momentum. But no excuse for more false starts penalties in a game than they had in the entire season ! So Ayn probably got hammered just to mitigate the boredom . BTW, seriously. ?!! White wine ? What next, Bartles & James spritz coolers for you ? :-)

Perhaps he had an early busy Monday and Ayn was flying off to Asia!

Been through 3 (wives), Super Bowl was never an issue, even attended one back in '88 and now I don't bother to watch, I'd like to think it was a sign of maturity...

Normally, I use SB time to do something that I prefer to do when there are not crowds, like a bike ride (if weather allows) or maybe cross-country skiing. This year I watched because I had a couple of former students playing for the Broncos. A defense game is exciting, but not the same kind of excitement as an offense based game. I thought it was a lot like watching baseball.
