And Alonso tried to black mail Ron so Ron turned over the additional evidence. They should have been tossed for a year or two not just banned from the constructors championship.

I don't follow F1 in detail or this issue in particular (a racing team cheating, OMG, who would have imagined?) so I don't know if the penalty is draconian or a slap on the wrist (it's $100 million MINUS lost revenue from the points, so it could be basically just points in the constructor's championship) but at least they made a decision that kept the teams racing unlike the circular firing squad that formed at the USGP a few years ago.

We are not talking Smokey Yunick in old NASCAR. This wasn't the typical cheating like pushing the limits on a car or out right cheating on their car with illegal equipment. They had all of Ferrari's technical info and were getting all of Ferrari's race strategy texted to their technical director before the races. Then they lied about it in the first hearing.

in spite of what McLaren indicates about their annual revenue, not so sure the company can sustain a $ 100m
loss ( assuming the penalty stays, post appeal ) ouch !
but no worries, Alonzo will be racing with a new team...at the wheel of a Prius !
Is it just me or did Aloso and Hamilton not see to give it all this race? (couldn't watch but kept up via live timing)
Oh they gave their all against each other but could not keep up with the Ferrari. If there wasn't so much run off at he first corner now at least one of the McLarens would have been out of the race. I compliment today's director as the angles used really showed the speed of the cars- it is a pity the Eau Rouge is an easy flat out set of corners for them now.

I love Spa. The elevation changes are incredible. Too bad they castrated some of the difficulty when they redid the track. But all the run-off room sure makes it safer.

Looks like my prediction about Alonso was not far off, lol, given how his F1 season has gone so far no wonder THIS is what he's driving now ( check out Fernando tearing up the track from last place to first ...in a GoKart )
