Is there a reason so many sports cars are coming out with these Dali-esque steering wheels ?! Just another gimmick to make things look different, or is there a functional purpose to them ..as in more knee room ?! I think they're bizarre. Then again, Quasimodo might think they look perfect. :-).

How often are you using the bottom of the wheel? (never) This shape gives you more leg movement and makes ingress and egress easier I would think.

Exactly why I presumed it' s to allow more " knee room " , especially for tall drivers trying to fit in sports cars which generally have pretty crammed space. But, if they smash the bottom of the wheel like that you'd think they'd make the top arc with a lower profile so the whole thing looks a little more proportional ...
