I'm looking at upgrading to the M030 brakes for my non-M030 968. I was just wondering if the stock 16x7" wheels will fit over the M030 brakes? The car is a "dual-purpose" car, and will see about 16 track days and some auto-x's this season.
I have an inclination to think that they will, as the 944 Turbo S's and Turbo Cup's ran with 16's, but I am unsure of the width they were running.
Any advice is certainly appreciated!
The 951TS was the first car to run with S4 Calipers. The wheels were 7.5x16 fordged allows to acomodate the larger calipers. The 968 16" wheels will not work

Thanks for the info!

Is it the width of the wheel that does not allow the M030's to be used with the stock 16" 968 wheels? Or is it the diameter? If I ran 16x8's up front, those should clear the M030's I would assume...
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't your DE days basically open laps for up to 15-20mins on the circuit? If so, and you are planning on doing 16 and some other events, I would look to put on the Big Blacks if possible although you may have to go up in wheel size? The Mo30 or S4 brakes are good but it's a very good option to go up to the next level again and for not much of a weight increase ( 4lbs per corner ), you get an extra 40%+ of pad area. Just an idea and one I'm doing.
I'm looking down the line into club racing, and PCA stock class rules will not allow me to go with anything larger than the M030's.
I would also like to keep the 16s for now, as tires are cheaper and I'm not looking for that last tenth right now.

Anyone know the difference between the M030 and standard hubs for our cars? I need at least 1 new one, and am curious as to the differences.

I believe one needs the M030 steering knuckle (spindle) to match the M030 hub. That said, I've never had them appart and side by side.
You do know you can buy billet aluminum units made by Racers Edge too. They come in std and M030 and are available through your fine sponsors on this site.

Those are really nice units! Might be a little steep at $750 for the pair, but I guess I'd never have to worry about them cracking. They do include all new races, seals, and bearings, so they might be one option to certainly look into.
Thanks Dave!

The standard M030 hubs
will crack if you track the car. Its just a matter of when. I've personally cracked three of them. I now have the billet units on the car. Porsche wants around $700
each for the OEM replacements, so $750 for a pair of billet units is really a bargain.

If you don't have a problem with running the billet units, then I don't think I will.
Thanks for all of the help everyone! Now I just need to figure out how to afford this on a college-kid budget... haha!
Brian,
I have a set of new in box front rotors (Non-drilled) for the M030 brakes. Let me know if you are interested.
Reasonably priced!
I'm just going to stick with rebuilding the regular caliper's for now, as I was able to aquire a used one from Mike. Much cheaper than going with the M030's for right now at least.
