Learn/Look/Purchase - Hello everyone
#1

Hello Everyone,

My name is  Brett and I live near Birmingham, Alabama....though a Duck fan.  Ok....football has not quite started.  Anyway, I much rather like cars.  I do not own a 968, (Had a 76 911SC and a 87 Carrera 10 years ago...life happened), however I am moving the 968 direction and getting excited.   Hopefully within the next 6-9 months I will find the right one.

I currently drive a 2002 530i and will keep it as my daily, however I am quite taken with the 968 and this is one my first stops to try and learn what I need to know before I pull the trigger.

If I may, can I start with 2 questions?

1. How noisy are the rag tops?

2  What is the best year to get as I am leaning 1995?

ok....3. What are the must have options?

I look forward to speaking with some of you and picking your brains.

Thank you all in advance for all of your future comments.....at least I hope I get some future comment....ummmm....good/informational and such....Wink

Brett

Welcome!  All the years are pretty much the same with the exception of cosmetic interior differences.  Enjoy the hunt and the drive...

Not entirely - 92 has a bunch of things including a few "mechanical" differences vs the rest ..( run a search for that, I think there are a few threads dealing with those issues... ) but as for the rest of the years , yes mostly cosmetic . The biggest interior difference is the seats ; as I understand it, cars up to 94.5 have 944 style seats and after late 94 they have 993 style seats .

To return to the thread topic - welcome and good luck finding your ideal 968 .

this is a conversation for a different thread (like the one that already exists that is specifically about that stuff)

Welcome,

As Flash mentioned, there are plenty of Technical Sections for you to post questions, however, you should know that there is no such thing as a true 1995 968 Cabriolet. They were all produced in 1994 and re-badged as 1995's (Code 718). There are some differences between early 94's and late 94's.

Good luck with your search,

Jay
