Keeping cool and crack-free?
#1

I just got a red 968 coupe with a black interior. So far I'm liking it. The interior is in pretty good shape. It's got black leather seats. With the big back hatch, it seems to get hot in even partial sun pretty fast. I'd like advice on a few simple things:

1) Plan on treating the dash with 303 Aerospace. This should be OK. Any thing else that needs the UV protection?

2) I'd like a reflective sun visor for the windshield. Finding one that fits would be great. Any leads?

3) What's the experience with tinting the back window. Any reason not to do this?

4) The car didn't come with a back-screen (I need to email the former owner - very nice guy). Easy to buy? Same as a 944? (can you say 944 on this forum?).

5) Unrelated to keeping cool, but the drivers side bolster is kind of dodgy. Can the seat backs from the passenger side be swapped with the drivers's side? This would move the dodgy part to the inside of the passengers side and presumably out of way of being scrapped up more. Note, I only want to move the top-seat backs.

Thanks for any feedback. Now that I got a car, I guess that makes me officially "in".

TR303 is pretty standard fare here for all vinyl. I think a lot of us have a tinted windshield across the top so there hasn't been much discussion of add-on banners. Maybe replacement windshields didn't all come with the tint? Back window tinting has been discussed here so try the search function to find the thread. Some like it but quite a few don't and you need a talented installer to deal with that large, curved piece of glass.

IMHO it makes the car look Japanese <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/ph34r.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

A few cab owners have screens so it should be easy to get an answer on either a supplier or how to adapt/make your own.

I await the answer for #5 and my sport seat bolster is getting a bit worn after 20 years and I have considered swapping the seat tops as well; the passenger side is perfect.

Thanks for the advice Dave. I can't believe no one's tried to switch the seat backs before. It looks like it will work. If I find something from searching, I'll reload it here.

OK - I need to search before I ask. The seat backs can be switched. No details if the holes and all line up. It's worth trying.

The seats apparently fit onto a frame.

Hopefully there are drawings on the web.

+1 on Aerospace 303 for the vinyl dash. No glare either.

I swapped the backs of my seats. Fairly easy with bolts on each side and watch the connections for the back tilt cable.

Thanks for the heads-up. It's nice to know that it works. Did you have to remove the whole seats?
