Jacking Points
#1

Can anyone lead me to threads or posts that discuss places to support the 968 other than the 4 jacking points built in by Porsche. As much as I would love a lift, I have only 2 jacks and lots of jack stands and I need to get the car off the tires and safely set on the jack stands.

Not sure if these are officially approved jack points, but when I have to get the car off the ground I put jack stands under the cross member up front and anywhere along the torque tube in back - even the little bit that sticks out into the rear wheel well is ok to use (found that out watching Flash work on my car, as prior to that I wasn't sure about it).

What does the forum think of this picture from Pelican Parts?

The "do not use" points up front are points that I use on my car with no ill effect. I thought they were the correct points. I note that the car shown is a 944T so I wonder if there is a difference between the 968.

My can came with this round puck thing that has a large pin in the center and a rubber buffer that was meant for a floor jack. The pin in the center was meant to locate and lock the jack in place on the car. The points up front on the photo "marry" to that device. I thought it was meant to be??

The factory jack points on the 968 are different than the 951. If you use the front points on that car they will push up into the passenger compartment, ours won't.

I use two floor jacks. One on either side of the car. Up front, I put the jack stands under the boxed section of the "frame" with two 4x4s I have notched to fit the top of my jackstands. In the rear, I use the torsion bar carrier just under the torsion bars. There is a nice place where the jackstand is very sturdy.
