Moose Accident
#1

I was going through my pictures today and came across this picture from last summer when I hit a moose in northern Maine. We got lucky because the rear of the moose hit the windshield post and didn't come inside the truck otherwise my fiance and I would have most likely been killed.

Suprisingly not much damage was done. I had a new windshield put in the next morning (it was the only one in new england at the time and it just happened to be at the local dealer in Presque Isle, ME) and we were able to use it for the rest of the trip. Not too bad since the average weight of a male moose is about 900lbs and we hit it at about 40mph.

OH! And don't let people tell you that moose are lazy and don't run. This thing came bolting out of the woods and I didn't see him until he was in front of the driver side headlight.

After this incident I don't drive in Maine at night!

BTW.....The moose got back up and ran off !!!

Too bad Governor Palin was not there to dress the moose for you <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Love it RPM, LOL many times.!!!

Sorry the accident happened. It must have been incredibly shocking, never had to experience something like that.

But I am glad it wasn't this:

I ran a deer down in PA once myself. Not sure if the deer was too slow or I was a wee over the BAL. Got the neck wrapped around the real axle (love that phrase) and I had to gear reverse, forward, reverse, forward, like that, to snap it's neck so that we could pull it out from under the car.

I wasn't too fond of hunters prior to that. After I almost got a NRA membership.

Anyway I sure prefer it in SoCal. Not quite as many twisty roads here, but a hell of a lot fewer things jumping out of the brush on the side of the road.

And governor Palin can dress my moose anytime.

Direwolf: I'm guessing that's moosesh#t on your car.....was your window open at the time of incident?

Here in Michigan, I saw two deer get hit on the way to work a few months back, there were three pickups that pulled right over to get the fresh meat......I guess they don;t have to worry about lead poisoning...

Go, John Boy. I'm proud of ya. This confirms that he is not too old to be President.
