Power Seat Adjustments/Repairs
#1

Hi. The Power Seats on my recently purchased 968 don't work at all. The seats adjust manually forward and aft on the slider rails, and the angle of the seat back is also adjustable manually. I presume the adjustment buttons adjust the height of the seats. Can anyone confirm this please. The drivers seating position is set very low towards the back of the seat and high towards the front of the seat and is therefore a bit un-comfortable. Given that the power bit isn't working, can the seat heights be adjusted manually. I haven't pulled the seats out yet, but from looking at the Workshop Manual there are 4 ( I think)  "Up/Down Gear Drives" that appear to be operated by an electric motor. The pictures don't indicate any manual adjustment for the Up/Down function, but maybe there is. Your thoughts please.

Kind Regards

Michael

Check the 8 way round Pin block connector is plugged in, even if the drive cables are broken you should hear the motors run

And the fuses of course, but I bet you have done that already

You might have to take apart the switch and clean it up. There are tiny ball bearings in there that make the connection when you press the buttons. I have 4 way adjustable on each seat and only 2 out of the 8 worked when I got the car. Took the switches apart, cleaned the connections and put everything back together...everything works like new now. Took an afternoon. Not a hard job but those tiny ball bearings and the srings they ride on and somewhat annoying to try and put back together...take your time and don't lose anything.

There are step by steps around the help if you search.

With mine moving back and forth is manual, as well as changing the angle of the backrest. Changing the height and tilting angle of the seat is electric.

I fixed my window buttons as Bio described, worth a shot.

One of the power seat buttons is missing, so I'll need to purchase one of those first. Any recommendations regarding the reliability of the various parts suppliers?

Reading through various articles on adjusting seats, there is mention to an "emergency seat crank handle". My seats adjust manually the fore & aft position, and back-rest angle.  Is the emergency crank handle used to adjust the seat height?, or is it for fully electric seats?

Regards.
