I tuned in for the last 35 laps of Indy yesterday. Exciting race - even to finish under yellow. I was rooting for Danica on underdog principle (and cuteness <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> but Dan Wheldon is a very deserving bloke as well - Dan started 16th, Danica came back from 16th at one point. Great driving by these two!

1992 black/tan coupe, window express, koni struts/shocks, 17C2 wheels, guards <acronym title='Limited Slip Differential'><acronym title='Limited Slip Differential'>LSD</acronym></acronym>, pinion fixed, sound system, etc, etc, OCD for sure.

I agree on the Danica topic, if for no other reason than the whining by some of the other drivers relative to her distinct weight advantage.. it's not as if all the male drivers were the same weight - arguably, she does have a little edge in that respect but so does a 150 lbs driver ( I'm sure there are a few in that class ) over the 175 + lbs. drivers. 25 lbs can easily enable a fraction of a second gain and in these races that can mean the difference b/w 1st and 2nd place. So to the macho drivers complaining about the unfairness of her being in the same field: until all cars INCLUDING THE DRIVER are compelled to exactly the same weight, SHUT UP AND DRIVE ! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

If you have ever been to Indy (5 times) it is more gonads than weight. All the front runners were flat for many laps. Watching drivers go into turn one at 225 and not hearing them lift is unbelievable. You must have respect for every one of them.

I was there when Nigel Mansel raced after winning F1. I had a headset on during his qualifing: he said, I can't F------ believe there's 250,000 people here for quailifing.

In F1 it's one lap. At Indy it's 4 flying laps average.

If you've neve been-Go- You will have amazing respect for the drivers.
