Indy 400 Pocono
#1

Today I was fortunate enough to watch this race from Doc's box. Doc being the owner and founder of Pocono. We had total track access. The parading of the racers prior to the race was cool as was Mario walking by me and saying how do I get out of this place. Jeff Gordon was there with his son moving around incognito and was up in the box. Actually they combined two boxes. The coolest thing was watching the race from the rooftop. It was possible to watch the entire race from there. Weather wise it was in the high 80's and just plain hot! Typically Pocono is known for it's unpredictable weather. Not today! If your a car person like we are you would have enjoyed the day.

The best deal is I now have this unfettered access at any race held up there!

Watching these guys go through turns maybe close to twice as fast as I did was a marvel. Course last year I had a different car, it was my first year and I was a wus! The sound is so cool from high above as they go by. This is a family owned business so after walking around in the pit area for a couple of hours and being scorched we went into their room next to the media center and hung before pre race activities started. The interesting thing was when Indy split up years ago Doc got into a disagreement with the one organization and told them to go pound sand. He refused repeated entreaties by Indy to come back. He died last year and the new management, family members, brought Indy back. They sell about 140,000 tickets to a NASCAR event. They sold 40,000 to this. The stands hold 76,000 people. So it looked empty today.
