Ok, I have to admit ; Steve McQueen and James Coburn have always been my inspiration and the definition of style and coolness with respect to driving passion and the attire that goes with it .. Paul Newman in a very, very distant third place ;-) .

Ok, taking the plunge for the Hunziker "1969 McQueen" shoes.  If Dan is inspired by McQueen and Rap likes the brand, how can I go wrong?  Will be on a Porsche group drive to the Albuquerque  Balloon Festival in two weeks so this will be a great test to see if I can drive as fast and look as cool EmoticonCar

I looked at those but didn't like the name on it. The iconic gulf livery was just too good to pass up. Settle for driving fast. Cool is a mindset.

The Gulf are sold out so I'm going with my second choice.  And it will give me a cooler mindset!

Shoes don’t make you cool. You either are or are not. Just ask Ds. He reeks of cool.

Indeed ! ( to the first part ). As for me reeking cool , lol, you're too kind ...although there must be a sliver of truth to that because there are quite a few others that have made that observation . I attribute it to the fact that I always stick with classics so I never follow fashion's " trend-of-the-day" , and to the extent possible all my designer labels are hidden on the inside of my attire, and I don't give a flying hoot about what others think about my appearance . It's simply about self-respect, and confidence , not attention-seeking . There you go, my style advice for the day :-) :-) :-)

Quote:How non-slip are the soles? They don't appear any gripper than the topsiders I wear. I would wear year round but not too concerned about wet, it doesn't rain in AZ.

They are much more grippy than Sperrys, so much so that you can annoy the crap out of your friends when you chirp and squeak them on smooth surfaces.  They also have good arch support and accommodate us folks with wider feet.

Just in case you guys are not familiar with this :

I bought several items from them, very good quality stuff. And if you like the Gulf motif , they probably carry the largest selection anywhere ..

See that't what I'm referring to. Sage advice from the "Essence of Cool." Plus he offers proof that others have said the same. Democrats these days don't offer proof of what they say. Be careful!

Are you sure? I thought it was written into the constitution of the state. :whine: that all residents were or had to pay a noncompliance tax.

The non-compliance tax sounds about right, I need a Cray supercomputer - do those still exist , or maybe just fit in the palm of a hand nowadays ? - to keep track of all the different categories taxes the state assesses ( aka state asses assess ) and total up the final figure I have to pay the state.

Noncompliance with regard to correct political affiliation.

The ONLY correct political affiliation is Independent . ( or Libertarian ) .

But to keep this on topic ; Republican drivers wear wing tips witn white socks , Democrat drivers wear Teva or Birkenstock open toe sandals with athletic white socks, and real men drivers wear stylish rubber sole loafers , witn no socks .

Just for the record, I don't wear socks with loafers.

Wish I'd seen these shoes before ordering the Hunzigers.

I have a couple of pairs of these shoes made by Pirelli, but it's too late to run down to the garage where I keep them because I'll wake up the cat ( that's his bedroom ) to take photos , so I pulled up some images off the web instead. The soles are in several types, all of which are similar to the tread design of some of their ultra performance tires, so you'll see a couple of them in the photos. I've had them for many years, maybe almost ten , and if I recall they're not outrageously expensive but not cheap either ..I think around $ 250.

Maybe I'll need one pair for the 968 and one pair for the 911. And they can live in the garage with the cars.
