I'm a little "high"
#1

Need to drop car an inch or so. Anyone got a line on used (but very good condition) coil overs or resonable mileage 030 spring/shock package? I already have 030 bars. Reply, PM, or call. Thanx Cliff 843 224 2173

good luck - you would be far better off with aftermarket stuff - it would both perform better, ride better, and cost you less

You don't need coilovers to lower your 968. One option if you're satisfied with the performance of your stock components is to replace the front springs with clubsport springs and lower the rear suspension using the factory height adjustment on the spring plate to match the front. You can buy the springs for about $150 new from Sunset Porsche.

H&R makes the lowering springs as well. I have them on my car.

I thought H&R discontinued the springs which fit our cars..

like most rear coilover kits, the rear shocks pictured will not lower the car, and will in fact raise it, unless you reindex the torsion bars first - you would at least have to add a tender spring and coupler to relieve the preload - otherwise, at wheel drop the springs will fall loose and make a racket

Flash,

Do you think it's better to remove the torsion bars if you go to a rear coilover kit?

lol - the jury is still out on that one - while there is a lot more tuning capability and flexibility with a full dual adjustable shock coilover setup like i have, and since they are hydraulic and not gas it is an excellent ride, there are definitely complications on a street car with a torsion bar delete setup - i am still chasing down noises - if i had it to do over again, i just might have changed torsion bars instead - if my next attempt at resolution fails, i still might

OK, I need a little help. What "spring plates" are being discussed in post #6? Is this referencing something that only exist on an 030 since a standard equipment car has no rear springs? Also, what torsion bars are you considering flash?

the spring rates are the same on the front for standard, club sport, and M030 - only the height changes, although the M030 looks to be a bit progressive

all are 28N/mm or 160lb/in

as for torsion bars, i'm not sure - probably 29 if i delete the coils altogether

i'm just not sure i want to get into the headache of indexing, and i like the more positive location of the polybronze bushings, and the adjustability of the coils - i just want to quiet it down - i think i have a "first generation" design glitch that can be corrected by some rework

we'll see how this works out soon

Only the M030 rear shocks had the spring plates as they had springs as well as the torsion bars.

Ryan,
Are you calling the lower spring mount on the MO30 shock the spring plate? We refer to "Spring Plates" as the steel piece that is connected to the T bar via splines and extend rearward. This is connected to another steel plate with excentrics to adjust ride height and toe.
All 968's are ride height adjustable in rear-

Pete,

Since the question was about M030 only springs I thought it was the spring perch on the shocks he was asking about. My bad.
