yeah - a lot of it is perspective - when i was racing, i would generally spend between 15k and 20k a year on the car - consequently i don't blink at a few thousand a year on the 968

if i were to add up what i spend on the other cars in payments alone, i'm right back at the 15k a year, so again, a few thousand a year on the 968 seems very insignificant by comparison

still, i can see where it might seem like a lot if you are coming from the mindset of the cost of a camry

Maybe I should add a clarifying comment. What I've spent on my 968 is on much more than what could be considered "maintenance"...but it doesn't matter because I don't care! It's worth everything I've spent and more.

You are not alone.
I just passed the $10K mark last week for the last 2 years of maintenance (mostly maintenance,plus the RSB stage 1 chip).
I regret all of the money I spent at the P dealer, as the value per $ was not good, and I know some work was not necessary or not done right. You know that sick feeling when you feel like you have been cheated...
I regret nothing I have done since finding RSBarn. Quite the contrary. I had A LOT of work done... just couldn't stop adding until my long to-do list was done. When I picked up the car on Saturday it was like a new car! I can't stop smiling!
Scott's logic is right on target. I've heard Flash say similar things in other posts.
Find a good shop, get the car in great shape and ENJOY it. You will not regret it! [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]
It is far cheaper than buying a comparable new car.

By the way, the tranny can be removed without having a lift. I did the clutch on my 944S with the car on jack stands. Not great fun but it can sure be done.
