How often should a radiator flush be done?
#1

Not sure I have seen any mention of this anywhere. Could be wrong. I don't think my car ever experienced a flush in it's 79000 mile history. Any inputs on this subject?

Supposedly every 5 years or 30K miles ,  I’ve had that done that only once during the 115,000 miles I’ve put on the car so far , but don’t remember at what mileage, or the year ..

If you’re concerned about the effectiveness of the anti-freeze / coolant , you can buy a tester ; they’re cheap and  can be found at most auto parts stores , or online .   I have one buried somewhere in the garage but haven’t used it for ages..   I only use the brake fluid tester every couple of years to make sure moisture hasn’t accumulated there ( it does whether you drive the car or not ) .  That fluid “ should be “ changed every two years , but I usually go by the tester indication... I’d do the same with the coolant flush .

My car is self-flushing. It seems that something goes wrong every few years that requires the draining and removal of the radiator, so when that happens I take advantage of the situation and rinse the radiator and replace the coolant.

As for the brakes, a power bleeder makes the job a piece of cake. No reason to put that one off if you have the proper tools.

That is exactly what my car is likeSmile

Flushing is easy enough that I should do it more often, but usually don't. Mine needing it is 100% time based and not mileage, unfortunately.

Looks like I am overdue for a flush and a AC re-charge. Today it was a top down drive day in beautiful 85F weather in Norcal.
