924S owner
#1

Hi everyone,
I currently own a 924S which is basically the bastard child of the 944 and the 924. It has a complete 944 driveline with a early 944 engine with late 944 goodies like waterpump, belt guard rails, late DME, etc.

The reason I joined this forum is because the 924S I own now is the perfect car for me other than its not actually the perfect car. Its too damn slow, and has gotten a bit old.

Since the 968 is the end of the evolution of the 924/944 range, I think that the 968 might actually be the perfect car for me since its actually a 944S3.
Its got the same size body, updated and sexy exterior, bigger displacement engine, 6 speed.

So by joining this forum, I hope to learn everything I can about the 968 so that I can spot just the right one when I finally go ahead with the purchase.

So far, here is my dream 968:
Black/Black coupe body
6 speed
NO sunroof
AC please
Club Sport or have all the CS suspension upgrades
completely unmolested and maintained with OEM parts
garage queened

welcome to the site

good luck on finding a sunroof delete car - i've never seen one - i know there are a few out there, but they are extremely rare

you will probably not find a club sport in the US, as they were never imported here, but there are M030 cars out there

Thanks for the reply, Flash
I sure hope the M030 option have the same suspension as the CS
I could be over the CS as I still want to have rear seats.
I could also do some of the weight reduction since I absolutely dislike power seats.

problem solved

well, if you are going to start modifying the car, the point of having a club sport (collectibility) is pretty much moot (except for those auto-crossing and watching modification point count) because there is a lot better performing aftermarket suspension stuff out there than the M030

Welcome to the forum.

CS springs are not very expensive - lot's of folks use Sunset Porsche for parts like this.

Think about looking for a car that has been well maintained, but also driven on a regular basis. The car that just sits in the garage might not be the one you want for lots of reasons....

Lot's of 968's are bought and sold, and I would recommend that you try to connect with someone who has owned a 968 to help you make a good decision when you locate a car that you might bring home. There is lot's of "tribal wisdom" here on this site, which can save you a couple of mortgage payments. You don't want to inherit somone elses problem.

Best of luck and stay in touch.

Yours,

Scott

I don't plan on heavily modifying the car.
Whatever modifications I do end up making should be easily reverted to stock OR is a desirable upgrade that usually starts from the factory parts bin, hence the desire for M030 components

as for better performing aftermarket suspension stuff out there,
what is out there for the following criteria:
daily driven with performance edge
good for canyon backroads
doesn't lower the car or very minimally (don't want the car bottoming out on slopes and steeper driveways)

I recently saw a lower mileage beautiful black m030 coupe for sale. Pricey, but it looked very nice. PM me if you are interested and I'll try to find the listing.
