There seem to be a pretty decent amount of them on the market right now in varying conditions... Definitely get a PPI (Check out the Buyer's Guide section for one you can download and bring to your mechanic to fill out). Compression test too.
Pinion Bearing is a big one to look out for...that I missed when I bought my car. You'll hear a "whirring" like a jet engine coming from the rear (hopefully not as loud as a jet engine), and it'll increase in volume starting at about 35-40mph. If you hear this, factor in $2k for replacement.
Belts need changing ever 3-5 years no matter the mileage, so find out the last time those were done.
